How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

We are working with a well-established and highly respected civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to assist them in hiring a Site Engineer for their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a business with a strong pipeline of rail and civil engineering projects across Scotland. Working on a variety of infrastructure schemes, you will play a key role in delivering projects safely, on time, and to the highest quality standards, while developing your career within a supportive and forward-thinking environment.

As the Site Engineer your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    * Setting out and surveying works in accordance with project specifications and design drawings.
    * Ensuring all engineering activities are delivered safely, accurately, and efficiently.
    * Maintaining accurate site records, quality documentation, and as-built information.
    * Supporting the Site Agent and Project Manager with programme delivery and technical queries.
    * Coordinating subcontractors and ensuring work is completed to the required quality standards.
    * Assisting with temporary works, permits, inspections, and ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental requirements.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

    * Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within civil engineering or rail infrastructure projects.
    * Strong setting out skills using Leica, Trimble, or similar surveying equipment.
    * A sound understanding of quality assurance processes, engineering documentation, and technical drawings.
    * Excellent communication skills with the ability to build positive relationships on site.
    * A relevant Civil Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or Degree), with CSCS certification. Experience working within a rail environment and holding PTS certification would be advantageous but is not essential.

    What's in it for you?

    * The opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of high-profile infrastructure projects across Scotland.
    * A competitive salary, comprehensive benefits package, and genuine opportunities for career progression.
    * Ongoing training, professional development, and the chance to join a respected contractor with a strong reputation for investing in its people.
