How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

SF Recruitment are recruiting for an experienced Maintenance Planner to join an established manufacturing business based in Birmingham.
This is a key role working closely with the Maintenance Manager to develop and manage the site's maintenance planning system, ensuring planned maintenance activities are effectively scheduled, resources are available and asset reliability continues to improve.

    The Role
As Maintenance Planner, you will be responsible for:
    - Developing and maintaining the site's Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM) programme.
    - Creating, reviewing and optimising planned maintenance activities based on equipment performance, failure history and OEM recommendations.
    - Planning and scheduling maintenance work orders.
    - Ensuring labour, tooling, permits, contractors and spare parts are available before planned work is released.
    - Coordinating with engineering, production, stores and external contractors to minimise disruption to manufacturing.
    - Working closely with Stores to ensure critical spares, consumables and specialist tooling are available.
    - Reviewing completed work orders and using feedback to improve PM frequencies and job plans.
    - Monitoring PPM compliance, schedule adherence, maintenance backlog and overdue work orders.
    - Supporting Root Cause Analysis (RCA) by identifying recurring equipment failures.
    - Driving continuous improvement through maintenance data and reliability analysis.
    - Maintaining accurate asset information, including BOMs, equipment hierarchies, task lists and technical documentation.
    - Producing and analysing maintenance KPIs and identifying opportunities to improve asset reliability and maintenance performance.

The position will have responsibility for maintaining and developing the site's Shire Maintenance Management system, linking this with the Stores Management System across the facility.

    The Ideal Candidate
We are particularly interested in speaking with candidates who have:
    - Previous experience within maintenance planning, engineering planning or maintenance coordination.
    - A background within engineering or manufacturing.
    - Experience working with CMMS / maintenance management systems.
    - Good understanding of PPM and reactive maintenance environments.
    - Experience planning engineering labour, parts, contractors and resources.
    - Strong IT skills, including spreadsheets and databases.
    - Good numerical and analytical ability.
    - Excellent attention to detail.
    - Strong organisational and communication skills.
    - The ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively under pressure.

An engineering qualification or previous hands-on maintenance background would be advantageous but is not essential.

This is an excellent opportunity for a Maintenance Planner, Engineering Planner, Maintenance Coordinator, CMMS Planner or Engineering Coordinator looking to join an established manufacturing environment and play a key role in improving maintenance performance and asset reliability.
