How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    CMM Inspector

Hyde, Greater Manchester | Aerospace Manufacturing

    Circa £18-19/hr + overtime opportunities

An established engineering business based in Hyde is looking to recruit an experienced CMM Inspector to join its Quality team.

Operating predominantly within the aerospace sector, the business has a growing order book and works with an established portfolio of customers in highly regulated industries.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Inspector who enjoys a hands-on role within a busy machining environment and wants to join a supportive team where quality, continuous improvement and developing people are taken seriously.

    The Role

As CMM Inspector, you’ll be responsible for inspecting precision-machined components at various stages of manufacture, including first-off, final and FAIR inspection, ensuring products meet customer drawings, specifications and quality requirements.

    Your responsibilities will include:

    * Programming and operating CMM equipment, with Mitutoyo MCOSMOS being the preferred software

    * Inspecting precision-machined components against customer specifications

    * Carrying out first-off, final and FAIR inspections

    * Reading and interpreting 3D models and 2D engineering drawings

    * Capturing and recording specific measurements in line with customer requirements

    * Using a range of conventional inspection and measurement equipment

    * Interpreting and producing inspection reports

    * Providing CNC Machine Operators with timely feedback on product non-conformities

    * Supporting operators and supervisors with technical and inspection queries

    * Identifying quality issues and contributing to effective problem-solving

    * Supporting the requirements of the Quality Management System

    * Identifying and driving continuous improvement opportunities within the inspection and manufacturing process

    What We’re Looking For

    Ideally, you’ll have:

    * Previous CMM inspection experience within precision engineering or manufacturing

    * Experience using Mitutoyo MCOSMOS is preferred; however, candidates experienced with other CMM software will also be considered

    * The ability to confidently read and interpret 2D engineering drawings and 3D models

    * Experience inspecting precision-machined components

    * A good understanding of manufacturing and inspection techniques

    * Experience using a range of manual inspection equipment

    * Experience of the FAIR/First Article Inspection process would be advantageous

    * An understanding of CNC machining would be beneficial

    * Strong attention to detail and a practical approach to problem-solving

    * Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with Production and Quality colleagues

    * A proactive attitude towards quality and continuous improvement

Previous aerospace experience would be particularly relevant, although candidates from other precision engineering environments with transferable inspection experience are encouraged to apply.

    Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is more than a role focused solely on checking components.

You’ll be working closely with the manufacturing team, using your inspection knowledge to identify issues, provide technical feedback and help improve how components are produced.

The business offers a friendly and supportive engineering environment, with a strong emphasis on developing its people. There is scope to further your skills through internal and external training and development, while working on technically demanding components for the aerospace sector.

The company also offers 25 days' annual leave plus 8 statutory holidays, alongside a competitive salary.

If you’re an experienced CMM Inspector looking for a fresh challenge within a busy precision engineering environment in Hyde, we’d be interested in speaking with you.
