How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Welding Inspector

    Pay: £18.00–£20.00 per hour DOE
    Contract: Temporary to Permanent
    Location: Worcestershire
    Hours: 39 hours per week, Monday–Thursday 7:45am–5:00pm, Friday 7:45am–1:00pm

    We are recruiting for an experienced Welding Inspector to join an established engineering and manufacturing business within the Defence supply chain.

    You will be responsible for inspecting welding and fabrication activities throughout production, ensuring products meet approved designs, customer specifications, relevant standards and company quality requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Carry out first-off and in-process welding inspections to verify products meet approved design data and quality requirements.

    * Inspect welding and fabrication against approved WPS, standards, engineering drawings and customer specifications.

    * Conduct visual inspections before, during and after welding operations and verify welder qualifications and approved procedures.

    * Maintain full traceability of materials, consumables and inspection records.

    * Complete inspection reports, First Article Inspection (FAI) documentation and other quality records accurately.

    * Participate in first article and customer witness inspections and support internal and external audits.

    * Raise and manage non-conformance reports, support root-cause investigations and verify corrective actions.

    * Liaise with Production and Quality teams to resolve welding and fabrication issues.

    * Support compliance with ISO 9001, ISO 3834, EN 15085, DIN 2303 and other applicable standards.

    * Support continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects and improving manufacturing quality.

    * Ensure welding inspection equipment is maintained and calibrated in line with company requirements.

    * Support Business Management Systems, training initiatives and the maintenance of production and quality standards.

    Essential Experience & Qualifications

    * CSWIP 3.1 Welding Inspector qualification.

    * Proven experience in a metal fabrication and assembly environment, working with aluminium, steel and stainless steel.

    * Previous experience in a Welding Inspector or similar quality-focused engineering position.

    * Current working knowledge of ISO 5817 and ISO 10042.

    * Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and welding documentation.

    * Good knowledge of Health & Safety and environmental practices.

    * Proficient Microsoft Office skills and strong attention to detail.

    Desirable

    * CSWIP 3.2, PCN Level III or relevant NDT inspection experience.

    * Experience working to ISO 9001, ISO 3834, EN 15085 or DIN 2303.

    * Internal Auditor training and/or IOSH qualification.

    * Experience within Defence, Rail or another safety-critical manufacturing environment.
