How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Continued growth and investment has created an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Mechanical Designer to join their engineering team based near Sheffield.

    Description

    As a Senior Mechanical Designer, you will play a key role in delivering bespoke engineering solutions for complex and non-standard customer applications.

    You will:
    Work closely with internal stakeholders across Sales, Application Engineering and Manufacturing
    Be responsible for reviewing customer requirements, developing innovative design concepts and producing detailed designs that meet technical and commercial requirements
    Modify existing designs and create new designs to provide solutions for unique applications
    Support product development activities and produce associated bills of materials
    You'll also act as a technical point of contact for customers and internal teams, helping to solve engineering challenges in a fast-paced environment where priorities can shift quicklyProfile

    Successful candidates will have a strong mechanical design background and will be capable of working at pace, even with bespoke designs.

    You will be an experienced Design Engineer and possess:

    HNC, HND or Degree in an Engineering discipline, or equivalent industry experience
    Previous experience within a mechanical design engineering environment
    Strong 3D CAD capabilities with the ability to produce accurate, high-quality designs
    Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage confidently with customers and colleagues
    Proven problem-solving skills with a proactive and analytical approach
    Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative engineering team
    Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to balance accuracy, quality and delivery timescales
    Experience in working at pace, even with bespoke productsJob Offer
