Production Planner
Location: Redditch
Salary: Circa £40,000
Hours: Full-time, permanent, onsite
We are recruiting for a Production Planner to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing business in the Redditch area.
Operating within a complex manufacturing environment, the business produces technically demanding, engineered products with multiple operations, processes and competing production priorities.
This is a hands-on planning role, working closely with Production, Supply Chain, Purchasing and Engineering to ensure customer requirements are translated into realistic and achievable production plans.
The Role
- Develop and maintain production plans across a complex manufacturing environment.
- Translate customer demand and order requirements into achievable manufacturing schedules.
- Plan production across multiple processes, operations and work centres.
- Monitor capacity, materials, labour and production constraints that could impact delivery.
- Track work through production and identify potential delays or bottlenecks.
- Re-plan and adjust schedules in response to changing priorities, material availability and operational issues.
- Work closely with Production Managers and Supervisors to ensure plans are realistic and understood.
- Liaise with Purchasing and Supply Chain around material availability and shortages.
- Monitor progress against plan and support improvements in OTIF and customer delivery performance.
- Maintain accurate planning information within ERP/MRP systems.
- Support continuous improvement across planning, scheduling and wider production processes.
About You
We are looking for someone with previous production planning experience gained within a complex manufacturing or engineering environment.
You will ideally have:
- Experience as a Production Planner, Manufacturing Planner, Production Controller or similar.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing processes and production scheduling.
- Experience planning products involving multiple manufacturing operations.
- Good working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience balancing customer demand against capacity and material availability.
- Strong Excel and general systems skills.
- Confidence working directly with production teams in a fast-moving manufacturing environment.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to react quickly when production priorities change.
This is a fully onsite position based in the Redditch area and would suit someone who enjoys being close to the manufacturing operation rather than planning remotely.
