How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Based in Glasgow, this is a key role within the estimating function, supporting the delivery of high-quality, commercially robust tenders for major electrical infrastructure projects, including HV substations and windfarm developments.

The successful candidate will have strong electrical estimating experience, excellent commercial awareness and a proven background within the power, renewables or wider electrical construction sector.

    The Role

As Senior P&R Estimator, you will manage and coordinate the estimating and tendering process from initial enquiry through to submission and project handover.

You will work closely with engineering, procurement, commercial and construction teams to develop accurate estimates while identifying project risks, opportunities and potential delivery challenges.

    Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates and accurate quantity take-offs based on project scope and tender documentation.
Interpret Electrical Technical Specifications, Employer's Requirements and drawings for HV substations and windfarm projects.
Manage the tendering process and coordinate inputs from engineering, procurement, commercial and construction teams.
Prepare tender submissions, including inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, assumptions and programmes.
Manage requests for supplier and subcontractor quotations and review submissions for accuracy and completeness.
Manage multiple tenders simultaneously, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are maintained.
Identify potential technical, commercial and delivery risks and advise the bid team on appropriate mitigation.
Attend post-tender meetings and support client discussions where required.
Follow up submitted tenders and capture relevant client feedback.
Support the successful handover of awarded projects to the Construction Team, clearly communicating the estimate, scope, quotations and commercial assumptions.
Contribute to continuous improvement across estimating processes and procedures.
Provide guidance and support to less experienced members of the estimating team.

    About You

We are looking for an experienced electrical estimator who can demonstrate:

A third-level qualification in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, Construction Economics, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
5+ years' experience within construction, electrical infrastructure, power or renewables.
Ideally, 2+ years' experience in a Senior Electrical Estimator position.
Proven experience within the Power & Renewables sector.
Experience estimating electrical infrastructure projects, ideally including HV substations and/or windfarms.
Strong understanding of electrical specifications, Employer's Requirements and tender documentation.
Excellent commercial awareness and understanding of project risk.
Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
Excellent numerical, analytical and problem-solving abilities.
