How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    GDS Partners are currently recruiting for an experienced Preconstruction Manager to join an established M&E Contractor based in Maidenhead.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced electrical preconstruction professional to take ownership of the full preconstruction process, from initial enquiry and tender development through to negotiation, project award and formal handover to the delivery team.

    Key Responsibilities
    šŸ”¹ Manage enquiries from initial receipt through tender submission, negotiation, award and handover.
    šŸ”¹ Review client enquiries, drawings, specifications, employer's requirements and tender documentation.
    šŸ”¹ Coordinate Estimating, Design, Procurement, Projects, suppliers and specialist subcontractors throughout the tender process.
    šŸ”¹ Ensure tenders are technically compliant, commercially competitive and submitted within agreed deadlines.
    šŸ”¹ Review electrical designs and specifications, identifying design gaps, scope interfaces, omissions and potential risks.
    šŸ”¹ Manage tender clarifications, qualifications, exclusions, assumptions and value-engineering proposals.
    šŸ”¹ Lead internal tender reviews and support commercial negotiations with clients.
    šŸ”¹ Review supplier and subcontractor quotations for scope, commercial risk and completeness.
    šŸ”¹ Attend client meetings, tender interviews, design workshops and commercial negotiations.
    šŸ”¹ Lead structured handovers following project award, ensuring delivery teams have a clear understanding of scope, budget, programme, design responsibilities and procurement requirements.

    Requirements
    āœ… Minimum 3 years' experience within Electrical Preconstruction, Estimating or Bid Management.
    āœ… Strong experience working within an M&E / Electrical Contractor environment.
    āœ… Experience managing complex tenders and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
    āœ… Commercial fit-out, refurbishment or similar construction project experience is highly advantageous.
    āœ… Strong technical understanding of electrical building services, including distribution, containment, lighting, small power and associated systems.
    āœ… Good commercial understanding of labour, materials, subcontract packages, risk and margin.
    āœ… Confident reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, programmes and contractual information.
    āœ… Strong communication, organisation and client-facing skills.
    āœ… Electrical trade, Electrical Engineering or Building Services background advantageous.
