How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    Main Duties

    The primary task of this role is to maintain the chemistry laboratory within the BAL R&D centre and carry out routine testing to support the BAL production processes. In addition, this role is required to deliver technical research projects from design to reporting stages. Projects may range from short-term investigations supporting daily business issues to longer-term investigations supporting daily business issues to longer-term product or process development projects. This role requires working both individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team.

    Person Specification

    Qualifications / Experience / Knowledge

    Essential

    * Degree in a chemistry or related scientific discipline.

    Desirable

    * Further degree (MSc/ PhD) in Chemistry related field (analytical, industrial, etc…)

    * Experience in an analytical laboratory of minimum 2-3 years.

    Experience in managing scientific investigative projects and reporting outcomes.

    Skills

    Essential

    * Knowledge of the chemical aspects of the production processes within the organisation.

    * Skilled in the operation of the equipment within the chemical laboratories of the R&D centre.

    * Skilled in the use of analytical techniques used to complete routine tests, a d longer term investigations and research projects. Knowledge of the business operational processes and their impact on the technical properties and performance of the products.

    * Knowledge of experimental design and problem solving techniques to enable research projects to be carried out effectively.

    * Knowledge and application of the environmental and health and safety management systems within the business.

    * Skilled in writing technical reports explaining key results and reaching logical conclusions.

    * Skilled in performing literature searches and reviews using all available sources of information.

    * Knowledgeable in the appropriate business management systems within the organisation.

    * Good problem solving skills.

    * Good interpersonal and communication skills.

    * Interest in manufacturing/ scientific analysis.
