How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Opportunity
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Estimator to join a highly regarded specialist main contractor delivering super-prime residential projects across London and the Home Counties.

The business specialises in high-end residential construction, full refurbishments, extensions, basements, new-builds, structural works and bespoke interiors, with projects ranging from period townhouses and listed properties through to large-scale private residences.

This is an excellent opportunity for an Estimator who is passionate about high-quality construction, complex projects and attention to detail, and who wants to work within a growing, collaborative pre-construction and commercial team.

    The Role
As Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive estimates and tenders for a range of super-prime residential projects, working closely with the pre-construction, commercial, design and operational teams.

You will play an important role in developing competitive bids while ensuring projects are properly understood, commercially viable and capable of being delivered to the company's exceptionally high standards.

    Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed estimates and tenders for high-end residential projects.
Review drawings, specifications, scopes of work and tender documentation.
Produce accurate quantity take-offs and cost plans.
Obtain, assess and negotiate subcontractor and supplier quotations.
Develop detailed tender packages and ensure competitive pricing.
Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, consultants and internal teams throughout the tender process.
Identify potential risks, exclusions, design issues and commercial opportunities.
Assist with value engineering and alternative construction solutions where appropriate.
Develop clear and accurate tender submissions.
Work closely with the pre-construction and project teams to ensure buildability is considered throughout the estimating process.
Attend tender meetings, site visits and client/consultant meetings where required.
Maintain accurate tender records and commercial documentation.
Assist with handover from estimating into the delivery team.
Build and maintain strong relationships with key subcontractors and suppliers.
Contribute to improving estimating processes, cost information and supply-chain knowledge. About You
We are looking for an Estimator with a strong background in high-end residential construction, ideally gained within a main contracting environment.

    You should have:

Proven experience as an Estimator / Senior Estimator.
Experience pricing high-end, prime or super-prime residential projects.
Strong understanding of refurbishment and new-build construction.
Experience with complex structural works, basements, extensions and internal fit-out would be highly advantageous.
Excellent knowledge of construction methods, materials and sequencing.
    Strong subcontractor and supplier relationships.
Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy.
Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
Ability to interpret architectural and technical drawings.
Confident communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with project and design teams.
A proactive approach to identifying risks, opportunities and value-engineering solutions.
Strong IT skills, including estimating and Microsoft Office software. Why Join?
You will be joining a specialist super-prime residential contractor with a strong reputation for craftsmanship and delivering highly complex projects in some of London's most prestigious locations, including Chelsea, Kensington, Knightsbridge, Belgravia, Mayfair and Westminster.

The company places significant emphasis on teamwork, professional development and career progression, with structured development pathways, mentoring and industry-recognised training available. Employees also benefit from a range of health, wellbeing and social initiatives.

The estimating function is an important part of the continued growth of the business, with the opportunity to work alongside an experienced Head of Pre-Construction and established commercial team.

    The Ideal Candidate
This role would suit an Estimator who enjoys working on bespoke, technically challenging residential projects rather than high-volume, standardised construction.

If you take pride in producing accurate, well-considered tenders and want to work on some of the highest-quality residential projects in London, this could be an excellent next career move.

If you are an experienced Estimator with a background in high-end residential construction and are looking for a long-term opportunity with a growing specialist contractor, we would be keen to hear from you
