How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Regional Engineering Manager – Fire & Security - Scotland | Hybrid / Field Based - £50k-£70k

We are working with an established national Fire & Security business that is looking to appoint a Regional Engineering Manager to take responsibility for engineering delivery across Scotland.

This is a hands on management role overseeing both service and installation engineers, making sure work is delivered to the right technical standard, customers are well looked after and projects and service activity remain commercially on track.

It would suit someone who has come through a Fire & Security engineering background and has progressed into engineering, service or installation management. You will need to be technically credible with engineers, comfortable dealing directly with clients and able to step in as the senior point of escalation when more complex issues arise.

You will spend time with engineers on site, meeting customers and supporting delivery across the region, alongside approximately 2 days per week in the office and some flexibility to work remotely.

    The role

    You will be responsible for:

    • Managing and supporting Fire & Security service and installation engineers across Scotland

    • Providing day-to-day leadership, technical support and guidance to the engineering team

    • Acting as the senior escalation point for technical, customer and delivery issues

    • Spending time on site with engineers, particularly where additional support or intervention is required

    • Overseeing service, maintenance, remedial and installation works

    • Ensuring projects and engineering activity are delivered safely, efficiently and to the required technical standards

    • Managing engineer performance, productivity, quality and development

    • Working closely with clients to resolve issues, review delivery and maintain strong working relationships

    • Managing subcontractors where required

    • Monitoring the commercial performance of works, including labour, materials, remedials, variations and overall margin

    • Supporting surveys, quotations and additional works through to successful completion

    • Ensuring engineering standards, documentation, commissioning and compliance requirements are maintained

    What we are looking for

    You will ideally have:

    • A strong background within the Fire & Security industry

    • Previous experience managing Fire & Security engineers, either within service, installation or a combination of both

    • A hands on engineering background and strong technical understanding

    • Experience across fire alarms and security systems such as CCTV, access control and intruder systems

    • Experience managing service, maintenance, remedial and installation activity

    • Strong customer facing skills and experience dealing with technical or operational escalations

    • Experience managing engineer productivity, performance and quality

    • Good commercial awareness, ideally including job costing, budgets or margin management

    • Experience working with subcontractors and third-party engineers

    • A good understanding of relevant Fire & Security standards and industry requirements

A Level 3 fire systems qualification, BS 5839-1 knowledge or other recognised industry qualifications would be advantageous, but are not essential for someone with the right level of practical experience.

    The opportunity

This is a key regional role within a well-established national business, with genuine responsibility for the quality and performance of engineering delivery across Scotland.

You will have the autonomy to manage your region properly, support and develop the engineering team and work closely with customers to ensure service and installation standards remain high.

If you are currently working as an Engineering Manager, Service Manager, Installation Manager, Technical Manager, Engineering Supervisor or Regional Service Manager within the Fire & Security sector, we would be interested in speaking with you
