How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    As an Engineering Manager in the industrial recycling sector, you'll oversee the day-to-day operations of the engineering team, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard. Your role will help drive efficiency and maintain smooth operations across the department.

    Our client is a leading provider of recycling and resource recovery solutions, helping customers reduce waste and conserve natural resources. We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead the engineering and maintenance function at Glasgow/Paisley site, ensuring the safe, reliable and efficient operation of plant and equipment.

    Description

    As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading and developing a multi-skilled engineering team, driving maintenance excellence and ensuring maximum plant availability across the site. You will play a key role in delivering operational performance, continuous improvement initiatives and engineering projects while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and environmental compliance.

    This is a hands-on leadership role requiring strong people management skills, technical expertise and a proactive approach to problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing and processing environment.

    Lead, coach and develop a team of mechanical and electrical engineers.
    Develop and implement preventative and predictive maintenance strategies.
    Ensure breakdowns are managed effectively to minimise downtime.
    Ensure compliance with all Health & Safety legislation and company procedures.
    Identify and deliver engineering improvement projects.
    Manage engineering budgets and control maintenance expenditure.Profile

    Proven experience in an Engineering Manager, Maintenance Manager or Senior Engineering leadership role.
    Background within manufacturing, recycling, waste processing, heavy industry or a similar operational environment.
    HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering would be beneficial.
    Experience managing multi-disciplined engineering teams.
    Strong understanding of preventative and predictive maintenance principles.
    Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
    IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.

    Job Offer

    Salary ranging from £60-70k, dependent on the level of experience.
