How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Working as part of the HSEQ team, you will provide hands-on safety support across day-to-day operations, projects and maintenance activities, helping to ensure work is planned and delivered safely, in line with UK legislation, site procedures and company standards.

This is a visible, site-based role suited to an experienced HSE professional who is confident working within a process, manufacturing or heavy industrial environment and engaging effectively with operational teams, project personnel, maintenance teams, contractors and management.

    Key Responsibilities

Provide practical HSE advice and support to operations, projects and maintenance activities across the site.
Maintain a visible HSE presence across the facility, engaging with the workforce and contractors to promote safe working practices.
Undertake site safety observations, field verifications and other proactive safety activities.
Support the preparation and delivery of safety briefings and workforce communications.
Provide support and guidance during accident and incident investigations.
Assist with the preparation, review and implementation of risk assessments and other HSE documentation.
Provide HSE support to project and maintenance activities, ensuring appropriate safety standards and controls are maintained.
Support the implementation of permit-to-work and other site safety processes.
Ensure activities are undertaken in compliance with UK HSE legislation, company policies, procedures and site requirements.
Provide HSE advice and input to management teams, operational personnel and contractors as required.
Deliver and support safety training, including site inductions, permit-to-work and other safety training aligned with business requirements.
Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives designed to strengthen site safety performance.
Support the wider HSEQ team with occupational health and hygiene activities where required.
    About You
We are looking for a practical and proactive Safety Advisor with experience working within an operational industrial environment.

    You will ideally have:

NEBOSH General Certificate as a minimum.
Demonstrable HSE experience within a process, manufacturing, energy, petrochemical or other heavy industrial environment.
Experience providing safety support to operations, maintenance and/or project activities.
A good understanding of UK HSE legislation, regulations and relevant codes of practice.
Experience supporting risk assessments, incident investigations, safety observations and workforce engagement.
Knowledge of permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
Strong communication, interpersonal and presentation skills.
Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a wider HSEQ team.
A confident, visible and approachable presence on site, with the ability to challenge unsafe practices constructively.
A proactive and accountable approach, with a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety.
    Why Apply?
This is an excellent opportunity for a Safety Advisor to work within a major industrial operation on Teesside, providing practical HSE support across operations, projects and maintenance activities.
The role offers the opportunity to work in a varied and technically demanding site environment where your expertise will have a direct impact on safe working practices and overall site performance
