How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Ready for your next sales opportunity?

    Aptitude Recruitment is working with a growing training organisation in Glasgow that is looking for a confident and commercially driven Business Development Consultant to join its team.

    This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys business development, building relationships and managing their own portfolio of clients.

    You’ll be responsible for promoting and selling SVQ training programmes, developing new employer relationships and then account managing those clients to identify further opportunities and build long-term partnerships.

    Already have experience selling SVQs or funded training? Brilliant.

    Don't have training-sector experience? Don't let that put you off.

    Our client is open to candidates from outside the sector who can demonstrate a strong background in sales and account management, with the drive and ability to learn the training landscape.

    What will you be doing?

    * Generate new business opportunities and build a strong employer pipeline.

    * Promote and sell SVQ training programmes to businesses.

    * Identify and engage with prospective employers across Scotland.

    * Build strong relationships with key decision-makers.

    * Account manage your clients once they come on board.

    * Identify opportunities to grow existing accounts and generate repeat business.

    * Understand employers' workforce and training needs and recommend appropriate solutions.

    * Work towards agreed sales and revenue targets.

    * Maintain accurate records of sales activity, opportunities and client relationships.

    * Work closely with the wider team to ensure employers receive a high-quality service.

    What are we looking for?

    Ideally, you'll have experience selling SVQs, apprenticeships, training or other learning solutions, but this is not essential.

    We're equally interested in speaking with strong sales professionals who have:

    * A proven background in B2B sales or business development.

    * Strong account management experience.

    * Experience developing new business as well as growing existing accounts.

    * Confidence speaking with employers and senior decision-makers.

    * Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

    * A target-driven and commercially focused approach.

    * The ability to manage your own pipeline and workload.

    * A genuine interest in developing a career within the training and skills sector.

    What's on offer?

    £28,000 – £30,000 depending on experience, alongside hybrid working and the opportunity to join a growing organisation where you can develop your knowledge of the training sector and build long-term employer relationships.

    If you're an experienced salesperson who loves winning new business but also enjoys developing and growing client relationships, we'd love to hear from you.
