How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

I'm working with a well-established manufacturing business based in Barnsley that is looking to appoint a Commercial Finance Analyst to join its growing finance team. This is a key role within the business, focused on delivering commercial insight, financial analysis and decision support to improve operational performance, profitability and long-term business growth.

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional looking to develop their career within a commercially focused manufacturing environment, with exposure to senior stakeholders across Finance, Operations, Production, Procurement and Sales. The successful candidate will play an important role in helping the business understand performance, identify opportunities and make informed commercial decisions.

    Key responsibilities will include:

Providing insightful financial and commercial analysis to support decision-making across the manufacturing business
Supporting the preparation of budgets, forecasts and financial plans, providing analysis and recommendations to management
Producing and improving management reports, dashboards and KPIs covering financial and operational performance
Analysing production costs, margins, overheads and operational performance, identifying trends, risks and opportunities
Monitoring actual performance against budget and forecast, delivering detailed variance analysis and highlighting key drivers
Business partnering with Production, Operations, Procurement and Sales teams, providing financial challenge and commercial insight
Supporting the analysis of product and customer profitability, pricing, costs and margin performance
Assisting with stock, working capital and cost-control analysis to support improved cash flow and operational efficiency
Supporting capital expenditure proposals, investment appraisals, business cases and scenario modelling
Developing financial models to assess the impact of cost changes, production volumes, pricing and operational decisions
Identifying opportunities to improve reporting, processes and controls through automation, systems development and process optimisation
Presenting financial and commercial insights clearly to senior stakeholders, helping translate complex data into actionable recommendations
    The client is looking for:

ACA, ACCA or CIMA qualified, part-qualified, finalist or an experienced finance professional working towards qualification
Previous experience within Commercial Finance, Management Accounting, FP&A, Finance Business Partnering or a commercially focused analytical finance role
Ideally, experience within a manufacturing, engineering, FMCG or other operational environment
Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial and operational data
A good understanding of cost accounting, margins, budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
Strong Excel skills, with experience using Power BI or other reporting/BI tools being advantageous
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to challenge and influence colleagues across the business
A commercially minded approach, with the ability to identify the key drivers behind business performance and turn analysis into practical recommendations
If you're a commercially focused finance professional looking to take the next step in your career within a successful manufacturing business, this could be an excellent opportunity to join an organisation where you'll have genuine influence, broad exposure across the operation and the opportunity to make a measurable impact on profitability, performance and growth.
