How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    We are recruiting for an experienced CNC Wood Machinist to join an established manufacturing business based in East Kilbride.

    The company manufactures bespoke panels and components for the retail, hospitality and commercial interiors sectors, working on a wide variety of projects for customers across the UK.

    This is a hands-on position where the key requirement is previous experience setting and operating CNC flat-bed nesting machinery.

    The business operates a 3-axis SEM flat-bed nesting machine, with Alphacam used for programming and creating toolpaths. Previous experience with SEM machinery or Alphacam would be advantageous but is not essential, with training available for the right person.

    Candidates from woodworking, shopfitting, furniture, kitchen manufacturing and panel-processing environments would be particularly relevant. However, candidates from metalworking or other CNC manufacturing backgrounds will also be considered, provided they have the required flat-bed CNC nesting experience.

    The Role

    As CNC Wood Machinist, your responsibilities will include:

    * Setting and operating a 3-axis CNC flat-bed nesting machine

    * Producing panels and components accurately to job specifications

    * Loading and running CNC programmes

    * Checking tooling and machine set-ups prior to production

    * Monitoring machining operations and making adjustments where required

    * Reading and working from technical drawings and production information

    * Carrying out quality checks on completed components

    * Working with a range of panel-based materials

    * Identifying and resolving basic machining and production issues

    * Working closely with the Production Manager to ensure jobs are completed accurately and efficiently

    * Supporting other areas of the manufacturing process when required

    The site also operates beam saw and edgebanding equipment. Previous experience with either would be useful, but is not required, as full training can be provided.

    What We're Looking For

    The main requirement for this position is previous hands-on experience setting and operating CNC flat-bed nesting machinery.

    You should:

    * Have previous experience setting and operating CNC flat-bed nesting machines

    * Understand CNC tooling, machine set-up and machining processes

    * Be comfortable loading and running CNC programmes

    * Be able to work accurately from drawings and job specifications

    * Be able to monitor machining operations and identify basic issues

    * Have a strong approach to quality and attention to detail

    * Be comfortable working independently as part of a busy manufacturing team

    Experience with Alphacam or similar CAD/CAM software would be advantageous but is not essential. Training can be provided for an experienced CNC machinist looking to further develop their programming knowledge.

    What's On Offer

    * £30,000 – £40,000 DOE

    * Hourly paid position

    * Monday to Friday, 7:30am – 4:00pm

    * Permanent day shift

    * Weekday overtime paid at 1.3x

    * Weekend overtime paid at 1.5x

    * Training on Alphacam where required

    * Training on beam saw and edgebanding equipment

    * Opportunity to develop further CNC programming knowledge

    * Varied work across bespoke retail and hospitality projects

    * On-site parking

    * Permanent position with an established East Kilbride manufacturing business

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced CNC Wood Machinist / CNC Nesting Machine Operator looking for a permanent day-shift position with good earning potential and the opportunity to further develop their CNC programming and manufacturing skills
