How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Are you ready to lead high-profile projects, deliver intelligent design solutions, and be part of a business that’s redefining construction? As a Design Manager you would play a key role in creating iconic, innovative, and sustainable buildings across Yorkshire

We’re one of the UK’s most successful Tier 1 contractors, with a reputation for delivering excellence in sectors including healthcare, education, residential, leisure, defence, and commercial. In our Yorkshire region, we’re growing and we want you to be part of that journey.

    The Role

    As a Design Manager, you’ll:

Lead and manage the full design process from bid to delivery, ensuring projects meet technical, commercial, and client requirements.

Oversee design resources and coordinate design teams, suppliers, and partners to meet project goals.

Drive innovation and continuous improvement, challenging briefs where needed to achieve the best outcomes.

Ensure compliance with departmental procedures, RIBA stages, legislation, and industry standards.

Manage design within budget constraints while fully incorporating customer requirements.

Chair and coordinate design reviews, ensuring smooth communication between stakeholders.

    About You

We’re looking for a proven Design Manager who can hit the ground running. You will have:

Strong knowledge of construction design and techniques.

HNC/HND/BSc in Design Management, Construction, or related discipline, and/or CIOB membership.

Main contracting experience delivering projects between £5m and £40m.

Experience in pre-construction (PSCA) and BIM.

The ability to lead teams, mentor colleagues, and foster collaborative working relationships.

    Why Join Us?

Be part of a supportive, inclusive, and ambitious team.

Work on landmark projects across Cumbria, including education, public sector, civic, leisure, and healthcare schemes.

Benefit from long-term career growth and development opportunities within a forward-thinking Tier 1 contractor.

Enjoy a varied workload across both site and office environments.
