How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Can you help unions use digital tools to organise, mobilise and win for working people?

The TUC is looking for a dynamic Digital Organiser/Campaigner to join our Organising and Growth team.

With new opportunities to organise digitally, unions are investing more in building organising capacity.

Across the country they're using WhatsApp, email, petitions, text messaging and social media to reach workers, build relationships and run campaigns.

In this role, you'll help unions make the best use of those tools through practical support, training and advice.

What experience, skills, knowledge and understanding do you need?

    * You'll have a track record of helping people get involved, build confidence and take meaningful action.

    * You'll be confident using digital tools and quick to learn new ones.

    * You're good with people, and good at getting things done.

    * You might have experience in organising, campaigning or mobilisation in a trade union, charity, campaigning organisation, political party or another progressive organisation. Previous trade union experience isn't essential, and neither is a job title with "digital" or "organiser" in it.

If this sounds like you, please see our job description and person specification.

TUC staff enjoy a good benefits package including final salary pension scheme and other benefits. The TUC values a diverse workforce and welcomes applications from all sections of the community and from within and outside of the trade union movement.

We welcome applications from any candidate but are particularly keen to receive applications from Black, Asian and minority ethnic candidates, who are underrepresented at this grade in the TUC. If this applies to you and you’re interested in the post, we invite you to join an online BAME lunchtime briefing at 12 noon Wednesday 19 August 2026, to hear about the post, the TUC and ask questions of the recruiting manager.

Closing date for applications 12 noon on Monday 24 August 2026. Interviews will be held on Thursday 3 and Friday 4 September 2026.

The TUC removes candidate names and institutions attended from all applications before shortlisting.

    The organisation

The TUC exists to make the working world a better place for everyone. We bring together the 5.5 million working people who make up our 48 member unions.

We support trade unions to grow and thrive, and we stand up for everyone who works for a living. Every day, we campaign for more and better jobs, and a more equal, more prosperous country
