How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Cost Engineer
    Glasgow | Hybrid Working
Up to £65,000 DOE + Excellent Benefits
Help Shape the Future of UK Infrastructure

Some cost engineering roles are all about producing estimates.
    This isn't one of them.

We're working with a specialist engineering consultancy that's trusted to advise on some of the UK's most complex infrastructure projects. Their work spans highways, bridges, civil structures, defence infrastructure and major transport schemes, helping clients make informed decisions from the earliest stages of a project through to delivery.

As their Glasgow team continues to grow, they're looking for an experienced Cost Consultant or Cost Engineer who enjoys solving problems, working closely with clients and using engineering knowledge to influence major projects.
If you're looking for a role where you'll have a genuine voice, build long-term client relationships and develop your career within a highly respected consultancy, this could be exactly what you're looking for.

    The Role

You'll be joining a collaborative team of engineers and cost specialists, delivering advice that goes far beyond traditional estimating.
Working directly with clients, you'll help develop cost models, provide strategic advice, and support major infrastructure programmes from concept through to delivery.
No two projects are the same, so you'll enjoy a varied workload and plenty of opportunities to broaden your experience.

    What You'll Be Doing

Producing cost estimates, cost plans, and commercial advice for major infrastructure projects.
Supporting clients with cost assurance, benchmarking, and whole-life cost modelling.
Building strong relationships with clients and acting as a trusted adviser.
Leading commissions and taking ownership of project delivery.
Analysing project data to identify risks, opportunities, and cost-saving solutions.
Working closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams.
Mentoring junior members of the team and supporting their development.
Contributing to the continued growth of the Glasgow office.
    About You

We're open to speaking with people from a range of backgrounds, but you'll ideally have experience within an engineering consultancy or infrastructure environment.

You could currently be working as a:

    Cost Consultant
    Cost Engineer
    Senior Cost Engineer
    Cost Manager
Quantity Surveyor with strong analytical and infrastructure experience
    Project Controls Engineer
    Commercial Engineer
    You'll also bring:

Around five to seven years' relevant experience.
A degree in Civil Engineering or another engineering discipline.
Experience working on infrastructure, highways, bridges, structures, drainage, defence or similar civil engineering projects.
    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent Excel skills and confidence working with data.
Experience managing client relationships and leading projects or accounts.
A collaborative approach and the ability to communicate with both technical and commercial stakeholders.
Experience with Power BI, cost modelling or whole-life costing would be beneficial, but if you have the right engineering background and analytical mindset, you'll receive ongoing training and support.

    Why Join?

This is a business that genuinely invests in its people.
You'll be trusted to take ownership of your work, encouraged to develop new skills, and supported by a team that values collaboration over hierarchy.
    In return, you'll receive:

Salary up to £65,000 depending on experience.
    Hybrid working.
    Structured training and professional development.
Exposure to nationally significant infrastructure and defence projects.
The opportunity to work with respected clients across the UK.
A clear pathway for long-term career progression.
A supportive, close-knit team where your ideas and contribution are valued.
If you're looking for a role where you can combine engineering knowledge, commercial thinking, and client-facing consultancy work, we'd love to hear from you.
    Apply today for immediate consideration.
