How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Teach Now is recruiting a compassionate but boundaried SEN Teaching Assistant for a long-term SEMH-support position in Brent.

You will work with pupils whose emotional needs can affect attendance, relationships, behaviour and engagement with learning. Success in this role will come from being predictable, observant and patient. You will help pupils understand expectations, recover from difficult moments and experience achievement within the classroom.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to develop a career in SEN, pastoral support, educational psychology or therapeutic education.

    What the Role Involves

Establishing positive and professional relationships with identified pupils

Providing individual and small-group academic support

Helping pupils use emotional-regulation and communication strategies

Supporting arrival, transitions, unstructured times and reintegration

Using praise, choices and clear consequences consistently

Implementing support plans agreed by teachers and the SENCO

    Responding to dysregulation without confrontation

    Recording progress and incidents accurately

Sharing relevant observations with the wider support team

Encouraging social skills, confidence and independence

Supporting a safe and inclusive environment for all pupils

    About You

    You should demonstrate:

Relevant experience with children or young people with SEMH needs

An understanding of why behaviour may communicate unmet needs

Strong emotional regulation and professional judgement

The ability to build rapport without compromising boundaries

Confidence working collaboratively with teachers and specialists

A reliable, reflective and non-judgemental approach

    Commitment to safeguarding and confidentiality

The right to work in the UK

An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one

    Two suitable professional references

Applicants with experience in schools, alternative provision, mentoring, youth services, care or family support are encouraged to apply.

    What the School Can Offer

A committed pastoral and inclusion team

Clear pupil-support plans and behaviour procedures

Access to specialist advice and school-based training

A diverse community and strong inclusive ethos

Opportunities to contribute to interventions and wellbeing initiatives

A long-term placement where relationships and progress can develop over time
