How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Lead Fire & Security Engineer

    Guildford

    £39,000 - £42,000 DOE.

    Join a Leading NSI Gold Approved Fire & Security Specialist

    We are recruiting on behalf of a well-established, NSI Gold Approved Fire & Security company with an outstanding reputation for delivering high-quality fire and security solutions across commercial environments throughout the UK.

    Due to continued growth, we are looking for an experienced Lead Fire & Security Engineer to take ownership of a key service area, covering Guildford and the surrounding regions, with occasional travel towards Southampton when required.

    This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineer looking to step into a leadership role while remaining hands-on in the field.

    The Role

    As the Lead Fire & Security Engineer, you'll be the senior technical presence within your region. You'll provide expert support to engineers in the field, act as the main point of contact for technical escalations, and ensure works are completed to the highest standards while maintaining exceptional customer service.

    You'll split your time between carrying out planned maintenance, fault finding, servicing and reactive repairs across a range of fire and security systems, whilst supporting the wider engineering team with technical guidance and problem-solving.

    Key Responsibilities

    Service, maintain and fault-find on a wide range of Fire & Security systems.
    Provide technical support and guidance to field engineers.
    Act as the first point of contact for technical escalations.
    Assist engineers in resolving complex faults both remotely and on-site.
    Support the Service Manager with technical queries and operational issues.
    Maintain high standards of workmanship and compliance with NSI and industry regulations.
    Build and maintain strong relationships with customers.
    Complete all documentation accurately using mobile technology.
    Participate in the on-call rota.
    What We're Looking For

    Proven experience within the Fire & Security industry.
    Strong knowledge of fire alarms, intruder alarms, CCTV and access control systems.
    Previous experience supporting or mentoring engineers is highly desirable.
    Excellent fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
    Strong customer service and communication abilities.
    Ability to work independently and make technical decisions.
    Full UK Driving Licence.
    FIA, ECS/CSCS or manufacturer accreditations are advantageous.
    Salary & Financial Package

    £39,000 – £42,000 basic salary (depending on experience)
    Overtime after 40 hours:

    1.5x Monday to Saturday
    2x Sundays & Bank Holidays

    Paid travel time (excluding the first and last 30 minutes of each day)
    £180 standby allowance per week when on-call
    Call-outs paid at overtime rates with door-to-door travel
    Rest time provided following overnight call-outs
    Up to £2,000 annual performance bonus, paid quarterly based on individual KPIs
