How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Theo James Recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established and highly respected manufacturing business in the search for an experienced Maintenance Team Leader.

    Operating within a fast-paced production environment, the company continues to invest in its people, engineering function and manufacturing processes. They are now looking to appoint a Maintenance Team Leader who can provide hands-on technical leadership while driving reliability, continuous improvement and engineering excellence across the site.

    This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer looking to take the next step into leadership, or an existing Maintenance Team Leader seeking a fresh challenge with a forward-thinking employer.

    Working Hours

    Full-time, permanent position operating within a manufacturing environment.

    Job Description

    As the Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for leading and coordinating the engineering team to ensure planned and reactive maintenance activities are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest standard.

    Key responsibilities include:

    * Leading, motivating and supporting a team of maintenance engineers.

    * Allocating and prioritising daily maintenance activities.

    * Providing first-line technical support during equipment breakdowns.

    * Carrying out hands-on maintenance and fault finding when required.

    * Driving continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives.

    * Supporting root cause analysis to eliminate recurring failures.

    * Working closely with production to minimise downtime.

    * Managing contractors and ensuring work is completed safely.

    * Validating permits to work and risk assessments.

    * Maintaining accurate maintenance records using the CMMS.

    * Supporting compliance activities and engineering documentation.

    * Coaching and developing engineers to improve team capability.

    Skills & Experience

    The successful Maintenance Team Leader will ideally have:

    * Time-served engineering apprenticeship.

    * Previous experience within a manufacturing or production environment.

    * Strong electrical and/or mechanical fault-finding skills.

    * Experience leading or supervising engineering teams.

    * Knowledge of planned and preventative maintenance systems.

    * Continuous improvement and root cause analysis experience.

    * Excellent communication and organisational skills.

    * A proactive approach to safety, reliability and team development.
