How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    The Company

A well-established residential housebuilder is looking to appoint a Quality Assistant Manager to support the delivery of high-quality new-build homes across Shropshire. Their developments are located within approximately 30 miles of their office, so applicants should live in Telford, Shrewsbury or the surrounding area.

This opportunity would be particularly suitable for an experienced Assistant Site Manager who wants to move away from day-to-day site management and develop a career focused on build quality. Applications will also be considered from former NHBC inspectors or local authority Building Control Inspectors with suitable residential experience.

    The Quality Assistant Manager Role

Working closely with the Quality Manager, the successful Quality Assistant Manager will travel between live developments and complete internal inspections at key stages of the build process.

The role will involve carrying out detailed audits in a similar way to NHBC stage inspections, ensuring workmanship meets the required standards before construction progresses. You will identify defects, record findings and work constructively with site teams to resolve quality issues.

You will also complete pre-handover inspections and support customer handovers, helping to ensure every home is completed to a high standard before occupation.

This is not an office-based position. Regular travel between developments throughout Shropshire will be required.

    Quality Assistant Manager Responsibilities

Complete quality audits at key stages of construction

Inspect homes against NHBC standards, Building Regulations and company procedures

Carry out pre-handover and final handover inspections

Produce clear inspection reports and defect lists

Support site teams in improving workmanship

Monitor remedial work and confirm defects have been resolved

Help reduce customer defects and improve handover standards

    Experience and Qualifications

The successful Quality Assistant Manager should have experience within residential housebuilding as an Assistant Site Manager, Site Manager, NHBC Inspector or Building Control Inspector.

Applicants should hold a relevant construction qualification, such as an HNC or HND in Construction, an NVQ Level 6 in Construction Site Management or an equivalent industry qualification. A valid CSCS card is required, while SMSTS and CIOB membership would be advantageous.

A full UK driving licence is essential due to the travel involved.

    Salary and Benefits

A salary of £38,000-£44,000 is available, depending on experience, together with the opportunity to build a long-term career in residential quality management
