The successful Associate Director Building Surveyor will join a national property consultancy with established building surveying, project management and cost management services. The London team has secured a strong pipeline across commercial, public sector, residential and mixed-use property and now needs additional leadership capacity.
The Associate Director Building Surveyor Role
The Associate Director Building Surveyor will oversee complex projects and professional instructions while managing people, financial performance and client development. You will have the support of wider technical disciplines but enough autonomy to shape account plans and regional opportunities.
The position is aimed at an experienced surveyor who wants to remain client-facing while progressing beyond individual delivery. Success will be measured through quality, team development and sustainable fee growth rather than short-term sales alone.
The team is selective about the work it takes on, placing emphasis on clear advice, sensible workloads and long-term client relationships.
Surveyors are encouraged to bring ideas forward and improve how projects are delivered, rather than simply follow a fixed corporate process.
Duties of the Associate Director Building Surveyor to include:
Direct major project and professional instructions
Lead strategic client relationships
Manage team utilisation, fees and project performance
Prepare bids, proposals and framework submissions
Identify cross-selling and regional growth opportunities
Provide technical oversight on complex instructions
Recruit, mentor and develop team members
Support the Partner with business planningThe Person?
The successful Associate Director Building Surveyor will be an established MRICS professional with leadership experience and commercial credibility.
The Associate Director Building Surveyor will ideally have:
MRICS qualification
Extensive consultancy building surveying experience
A record of managing key accounts
Strong fee generation and business development skills
Leadership and people management experience
Broad project and professional services knowledge
