How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Electrical Estimator – Rail Electrical / Telecoms

    Location: Scotland (Remote Working Considered)

    Electrical Estimator – Rail

    We are recruiting for an experienced Electrical Estimator to join a growing and well-established engineering business delivering projects across the UK rail infrastructure sector.

    We're particularly interested in candidates with a background in rail electrical or rail telecoms estimating. Based in Scotland, this role offers flexibility, with fully remote working considered for the right candidate.

    As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of rail infrastructure and other sector projects. You will work closely with operational teams, suppliers, and clients to develop commercially competitive bids while ensuring technical accuracy.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Prepare accurate cost estimates for rail electrical and telecoms projects.

    * Review tender documentation, specifications, and drawings.

    * Produce detailed take-offs, pricing schedules, and cost breakdowns.

    * Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations.

    * Identify project risks, opportunities, and value engineering solutions.

    * Liaise with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams throughout the tender process.

    * Support tender submissions and post-tender negotiations.

    * Maintain estimating records and pricing databases.

    About You

    We are keen to speak with candidates who have:

    * Previous experience as an Electrical Estimator within the rail or M&E sectors.

    * Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.

    * Excellent communication and organisational skills.

    * The ability to manage multiple tenders and work independently.
