How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job Title: Group Health and Safety Advisor
    Location: Head Office, East Yorkshire (with UK travel across multiple sites)
    Salary: £37,000 - £42,000 DOE

    As Group Health and Safety Advisor, you'll join a close-knit and highly experienced HSE team where collaboration, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement are at the heart of everything they do.     The Opportunity As Group Health and Safety Advisor, you'll play a key role in:

    Supporting Health, Safety and Environmental activities across multiple UK sites and business sectors.
    Conducting audits, inspections and compliance reviews to drive continuous improvement.
    Carrying out accident, incident and near-miss investigations and identifying practical preventative measures.
    Producing and reviewing risk assessments, COSHH assessments and safe systems of work.
    Supporting contractor management, permit-to-work systems and RAMS reviews.
    Promoting fire safety, emergency preparedness and environmental compliance.
    Delivering toolbox talks, safety briefings and initiatives to improve HSE awareness across the business.
    Preparing sites for external audits, regulatory inspections and insurance visits.
    Working closely with managers and operational teams to influence HSE policy, performance and best practice. Your work will directly contribute to creating safer workplaces, improving compliance and embedding a positive Health, Safety and Environmental culture across the organisation.

    About You We're looking for someone who can bring:

    NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent qualification.
    Previous experience in a dedicated Health and Safety role.
    Strong working knowledge of UK Health and Safety legislation and environmental compliance.
    Experience carrying out audits, inspections, investigations and risk assessments.
    Knowledge of COSHH, contractor management, permit-to-work systems and safe systems of work.
    Excellent communication skills with the confidence to positively influence colleagues at all levels.
    A practical, solutions-focused approach with the ability to challenge constructively.
    Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage priorities across multiple sites.
    Full UK driving licence and be happy to travel up to 25% of the time to sites across the UK  Experience working across multiple sites, IOSH membership, knowledge of ISO standards or progression towards the NEBOSH Diploma would be advantageous but is not essential.
