How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Tennis Wales is the Governing Body of tennis and padel in Wales with a vision to open up tennis across Wales. Tennis Wales aim to transform Welsh communities through tennis and padel and launched their strategy from 2020 – 2024, and in collaboration with the LTA, Sport Wales, and was extended further until December 2026. Tennis Wales are currently working towards a revised version for 2027 and beyond.


    Tennis Wales is now looking to recruit an Independent Chairperson to lead the Tennis Wales Board to ensure the effective management of the organisation and work in partnership with the CEO to successfully deliver our vision. The Tennis Wales Board meets five times a year across Wales. The term of office is three years initially with a maximum of two, three-year terms.


    The Chair will lead the Board to reach strategic decisions and make sure that the company’s obligations are fulfilled. Directors take an active role in the policymaking & strategic development for Tennis Wales at Board level, liaising with key stakeholders and supporting the CEO on a regular basis.


    Specifically, the Chair will provide leadership to the Board, work in partnership with the CEO, taking on the role of line manager whilst representing Welsh tennis and padel. Additionally the Chair will provide strategic leadership and promote the values of Tennis Wales, while supporting and guiding Board members to effectively fulfil their responsibilities.


    The role is accountable for fostering a culture of integrity, probity, transparency, and ethical conduct, ensuring compliance with all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements. The Chair will also champion strong governance practices across the organisation, in alignment with the Governance & People Development Framework for Wales (Arwain Cymru), ensuring the

    highest standards of organisational effectiveness and accountability are maintained.


    The Chair will be required to provide varying amounts of time to the role depending on the needs of Tennis Wales, but is expected to attend all Board meetings (at present 5 per year), chair the Annual General Meeting, attend Governance and Staffing Committee meetings, as well as having regular meetings with the CEO. The Chair should attend meetings with stakeholders as required and attend LTA, Sport Wales and other meetings to understand new initiatives and issues affecting tennis and padel, and the wider sporting community.
