How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Help provide the financial insight that supports outstanding care.

Joining us means becoming part of a forward-looking care organisation with a strong, long-term commitment to the success of every home. Supported by substantial, planned investment, we provide the resources and stability needed to deliver high-quality, sustainable care while nurturing thriving communities. This is a full-time, office-based role based at our Support Office in Darlington, working 40 hours per week and offering the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the organisation to support homes nationwide.

Residents, families and colleagues are at the heart of everything we do. We believe in building trusted relationships, continuously improving the way we work, and creating environments where people feel supported to grow and succeed.

As a Management Accountant, you'll play an important role in delivering accurate financial reporting and commercial insight across a portfolio of care homes. Working within our Finance team, you'll help operational leaders understand performance, support effective decision-making and ensure the highest standards of financial control and governance.

    About the role

Reporting to the Group Management Accountant, you'll take ownership of the month-end close and management accounts for an assigned portfolio of care homes, ensuring reporting is accurate, timely and fully compliant with Group reporting standards and internal controls.

You'll prepare management accounts, forecasts and budgets, providing clear analysis of financial performance, occupancy, revenue and key cost drivers while supporting operational colleagues to understand their results. Working closely with Home Managers and Area Directors, you'll produce meaningful financial information that helps identify opportunities, manage risks and improve performance across the portfolio.

You'll also oversee balance sheet reconciliations, income accruals across multiple funding streams and reporting processes, while supervising and developing an Assistant Management Accountant to ensure high-quality financial support across the team.

    About you

You'll be an organised and analytical finance professional who enjoys combining technical accounting expertise with strong business partnering skills. Comfortable working to deadlines in a fast-paced environment, you'll have excellent attention to detail and take pride in producing accurate, insightful financial information.

You'll be confident communicating financial concepts to non-finance colleagues, building positive relationships across the business and supporting operational teams to understand and improve financial performance. We're looking for someone who is collaborative, proactive and committed to maintaining high standards of financial control and continuous improvement.

    What you'll bring

    Essential

Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).

Experience producing monthly management accounts within a multi-site organisation, ideally in healthcare, social care, hospitality or a similar operational environment.

Strong knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.

Experience preparing income accruals and analysing financial performance across multiple revenue streams.

Excellent analytical, communication and organisational skills.

Experience coaching or supervising junior team members.

Understanding of financial controls and governance within a regulated reporting environment.

    Desirable

Knowledge of care sector funding, including local authority, Continuing Healthcare (CHC), Funded Nursing Care (FNC), private pay and other funding streams.

Experience producing operational KPI reporting, including occupancy, fee income and profitability measures.

Familiarity with SOX internal control requirements.

    Additional information

This role is based at our Central Support Office in Darlington, with regular office attendance and occasional travel to care homes and regional offices.

An Enhanced DBS check and DVLA licence check are required for this role.

As with all colleagues, you'll be expected to comply with our policies relating to health and safety, infection prevention and control, safeguarding and all relevant regulatory requirements. From time to time, you may be asked to undertake other duties appropriate to the role, and the responsibilities outlined above may be reasonably reviewed and updated following consultation to reflect business needs.
