How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Midland Lead, the only UK lead manufacturer with an EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) for our lead sheet, which is made from 100% recycled lead is seeking a Maintenance Technician – Electrical Focus to support the safe, reliable and efficient operation of Midland Lead's plant, machinery and site equipment.

We are a proactive member of the UK manufacturing industry, partnering with Make UK and supporting other local manufacturers via the East Midlands Manufacturing Network.  It’s not just the UK though – we enjoy working with international customers all over the world for construction, radiation protection and ballast applications.

This role requires flexibility to work a Monday - Friday rotating shift pattern, including 06.00 – 14.30, 09.00 – 17.30, 14.00 – 22.30 and occasional weekend working (shifts to support business needs and provide cover during site shutdown periods).

As the Maintenance Technician – Electrical Focus at Midland Lead you will:

Carry out planned preventative electrical and mechanical maintenance on electrical systems, machinery and site equipment.
Diagnose and resolve faults, carrying out repairs, component replacements and system improvements to maintain safe and reliable operations.
Respond quickly and safely to urgent issues, prioritising work to minimise production downtime by resolving electrical and mechanical problems.
Work collaboratively with production colleagues, operators and managers to understand priorities, share knowledge and keep equipment running safely and reliably.
Support equipment used in a busy lead manufacturing environment, including traditional plant, casting, cutting, rolling and associated production equipment.
Work with electrical systems such as control panels, motors, sensors, drives, control units and associated machinery controls.
Provide mechanical support where needed as part of the wider team.
Support site close-down and security responsibilities when required, helping ensure the site is left safe and secure at the end of the day.

Here at Midland Lead, we are looking for a Maintenance Technician – Electrical Focus with the following experience and skills:

Significant and demonstrable maintenance experience in manufacturing, heavy engineering, metal processing or a similar plant environment.
Strong experience in electrical maintenance and fault-finding.
Confident diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults on plant machinery and site equipment.
Able to work with control panels, motors, sensors, drives, control units and electrical systems safely and practically.
Able to carry out reactive maintenance, planned preventative maintenance and practical repair work. Focused on root cause, reliability and reducing repeat breakdowns
Able to work safely around mechanical equipment and assist with routine inspections, testing and minor mechanical repairs within the limits of competence.
Strong safety awareness and willingness to support site close-down/security responsibilities.

    What Midland Lead can offer:

A friendly, supportive and values-driven family-run working environment.
A role where your ideas, judgement and practical experience will be listened to.
The chance to help shape better maintenance practices and improve machinery reliability.
A good salary and benefits package, including life assurance, access to GP appointments, Costco membership, volunteering opportunities and wellbeing support.
30 days annual leave (rising to 33 days service-related holiday), and Company Sick Pay (following successful completion of probationary period).
Training and development in your area of expertise.
The opportunity to be part of a business with a strong sustainability focus and a proud manufacturing heritage.

You will be joining a friendly, family-run King’s Award-winning manufacturing business with a proud reputation for producing sustainable recycled lead sheet.  If this sounds like the role for you and you would like to join the team at Midland Lead, click apply now.
