How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Metal Polisher / Linisher

    Location: Solihull
    Pay Rate: £13.00 - £14.00 per hour (DOE)
    Job Type: Full-Time

    We are currently recruiting for an experienced Metal Polisher / Linisher to join a well-established engineering and manufacturing company based in Solihull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with previous metal finishing experience who takes pride in producing high-quality work within a busy fabrication environment.

    Hours of Work

    Monday to Thursday: 7:00am - 3:30pm

    Friday: 7:00am - 1:00pm

    Early finish every Friday

    Full-time hours

    The Role

    As a Metal Polisher / Linisher, you will be responsible for preparing, finishing and polishing fabricated metal components to a high cosmetic standard. You will work with a variety of metals, ensuring finished products meet customer specifications and quality requirements. The successful candidate will also be required to safely operate a Counterbalance Forklift Truck to move materials and finished products around the workshop.

    Duties Include

    Linishing and polishing fabricated metal components

    Removing weld marks, scratches and surface imperfections

    Achieving brushed, satin and mirror finishes where required

    Polishing aluminium, stainless steel, mild steel and other metals

    Grinding, fettling and deburring components

    Using belt linishers, polishing machines, angle grinders and other finishing equipment

    Loading, unloading and moving materials using a Counterbalance Forklift Truck

    Transporting finished products safely within the workshop

    Inspecting finished products to ensure they meet quality standards

    Working from engineering drawings and job specifications where required

    Maintaining a clean, safe and organised working environment

    Following company health and safety procedures at all times

    Candidate Requirements

    Previous experience as a Metal Polisher, Linisher, Metal Finisher or Fettler

    Experience working with stainless steel, aluminium and other fabricated metals

    A valid Counterbalance Forklift Truck licence is essential

    Previous experience operating a Counterbalance Forklift in a manufacturing or engineering environment

    Competent using hand tools, power tools and polishing equipment

    Excellent attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality finishes

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team

    Reliable, punctual and able to work to production deadlines
