How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

Here's a Site Agent advert following the same format and keeping the client anonymous.

We are working with a leading and well-respected civil engineering and infrastructure contractor to assist them in hiring a Site Agent for their growing team.

This is an excellent opportunity to join an established business with a strong portfolio of rail and civil engineering projects across Scotland. As a Site Agent, you will take ownership of project delivery, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards while leading site teams and maintaining strong client relationships.

As the Site Agent your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

    * Managing the safe and successful delivery of rail and civil engineering projects from start to completion.
    * Leading site teams, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure programme and quality targets are achieved.
    * Monitoring project performance, resources, costs, and progress while identifying opportunities for improvement.
    * Ensuring compliance with all health, safety, environmental, and quality procedures.
    * Liaising with clients, designers, commercial teams, and key stakeholders to ensure effective project coordination.
    * Producing and reviewing project documentation including RAMS, programmes, site reports, and quality records.

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate:

    * Previous experience as a Site Agent or Senior Site Engineer delivering civil engineering or rail infrastructure projects.
    * Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to drive project performance.
    * Excellent knowledge of NEC contracts, project planning, and engineering principles.
    * A proactive approach to problem-solving with strong organisational and communication skills.
    * A Civil Engineering qualification (HNC, HND, or Degree) along with SMSTS and CSCS certification. PTS certification would be advantageous.

    What's in it for you?

    * The opportunity to work on a diverse range of high-profile infrastructure projects throughout Scotland.
    * A competitive salary, company vehicle or allowance, comprehensive benefits package, and excellent career development opportunities.
    * The chance to join a respected contractor with a strong order book, an excellent reputation, and a genuine commitment to investing in its people.
