How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.

  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.

    Job description

    Job Title: Responsible Welding Coordinator

    Pay: £55,000 - £65,000 per year

    Location: Pershore

    Hours: Monday – Thursday: 07:45am – 5:15pm
    Friday: 07:45am – 1:00pm

    We are seeking an experienced Responsible Welding Coordinator to lead and oversee all welding coordination activities in accordance with ISO 14731.

    This role places you at the centre of welding governance within the business. You will provide technical leadership and strategic oversight of welding compliance, procedure qualification, personnel competence, and inspection control, ensuring all safety-critical fabrications consistently meet the requirements of:

    ISO 9001

    ISO 3834-2

    You will act as the organisation’s welding authority, supporting technical reviews, strengthening production controls, maintaining audit readiness, and driving continual improvement across regulated defence and industrial programmes. The position carries genuine accountability, influencing quality performance, compliance integrity, and operational excellence at a strategic level.

    Key Responsibilities:

    * Ensure compliance with Business Management Systems

    * Maintain full record traceability through effective application of management systems.

    * Develop, qualify, and maintain Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Welding Procedure Qualification Records (WPQR).

    * Support Technical Review and Production Planning processes from a welding perspective.

    * Ensure all WPS, WPQR, and associated documentation are controlled and accessible.

    * Maintain welding personnel competency matrices and ensure appropriate deployment of skills.

    * Audit subcontractor welding capabilities where required.

    * Conduct routine Safety, Environmental (5S), and compliance inspections.

    * Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives (Kaizen, Lean, 5S).

    * Develop and monitor KPI performance metrics and conduct root cause investigations for non-conformances.

    * Supervise welding personnel during preparation and execution of complex tasks.

    * Coordinate pre-, interim-, and post-weld inspection and testing activities.

    * Work closely with the compliance team to ensure full integration of management systems.

    Qualifications:

    * CSWIP 3.1 – National Accreditation Welding Inspector

    * HNC (or higher) in Fabrication & Welding or related engineering discipline

    * Comprehensive technical knowledge as is DIN EN ISO 14731, e.g.

    * EWE as in EWF Guideline 409

    * SFI as in DVS-IIW/EWF 1173 or comparable qualification

    * Engineering degree (Dipl.-Ing.)

    * Obtained from a technical university

    Experience:

    Essential

    Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role within an engineering or fabrication environment.

    Working knowledge of:

    ISO 9001

    ISO 3834

    EN 15085

    Experience developing and implementing welding procedures aligned to EN 15085 / ISO 3834.

    Strong quality focus within customer-driven environments.

    Ability to work independently, applying sound judgement and effective problem-solving.

    Strong commercial awareness and strategic-level thinking.

    Proficient IT skills including Microsoft Office applications.

    Desirable:

    International Welding Engineer (IWE) or International Welding Technologist (IWT).

    Incorporated Engineer (IEng) registration.

    Lean Six Sigma qualification.

    Experience in Planning, NPI, and product lifecycle management.

    Experience working to Defence (AQAP, Mil-Std), Rail (RIS), or Automotive (IATF) standards.
