How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Site Engineer - Structures - HS2 Sublot 2B, Coventry/Kenilworth
    £450 per day | Inside IR35 | Minimum 5-Month Contract with Scope for Extension
    Balfour Beatty VINCI, working on behalf of HS2, is seeking an experienced Site Engineer - Structures to join the team delivering major civil engineering works on Sublot 2B - a key section of the HS2 route extending north from Kenilworth through Warwickshire, Balsall Common and on to the River Blythe.
    This is an outstanding opportunity to work on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects, contributing to the delivery of bridges, viaducts, and structures enabling full connectivity across the Network Rail corridor crossings in this section of HS2.
    The Role
    Reporting to the Section Engineer, you'll take ownership of site engineering control and implementation of works, monitoring and reporting progress across your area of responsibility. Key accountabilities include:

    Ensuring all permits are applied for and in place ahead of site works commencing
    Ensuring Inspection and Test Plans and Quality Check Sheets are completed promptly
    Setting out and surveying across structures works
    Managing subcontractors and using document control to manage information distribution
    Developing and approving procedures specific to your area of works
    Approving method statements and risk assessments, and ensuring compliance throughout
    Liaising regularly with the client and other sections to manage clashes and maintain smooth work flow
    Ensuring design drawings are marked up to reflect completed works
    What You'll Need

    Qualified to degree level in Civil Engineering or equivalent
    Previous site engineering experience, ideally on large-scale civils infrastructure projects
    Experience in structural RC works preferred; strong experience in drainage, highways, or earthworks also considered
    Experience in possession works (e.g. Network Rail) advantageous
    Setting out techniques - confident use of level, EDM, and GPS
    Ability to read and interpret drawings and schedules
    Able to produce detailed handover documentation and accurately take off/schedule material quantities
    Current UK driving licence and CSCS card

    Minimum 5-month contract, with scope for extension
