How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    A progressive multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Director of Fire & Facade Engineering to establish and lead their growing Fire Engineering and Facade Engineering business unit.

    This is a senior strategic appointment offering the successful candidate the opportunity to shape a new division, build a specialist team and develop long-term client relationships across the residential, commercial, mixed-use and high-rise sectors.

    The Director of Fire & Facade Engineering's Role

    The successful Director will work closely with the company's existing Directors to develop the business unit, secure new instructions and oversee the delivery of technically complex projects.

    Responsibilities will include:

    Leading fire engineering and facade engineering commissions
    Developing existing and prospective client relationships
    Supporting business development, bids and fee proposals
    Recruiting and mentoring a specialist technical team
    Providing strategic and technical oversight
    Ensuring projects comply with current fire safety and Building Regulations requirements
    Supporting facade remediation, external wall and building safety projects

    The Director of Fire & Facade Engineering

    The ideal candidate will have:

    Extensive fire engineering, facade engineering or building safety experience
    A relevant engineering or construction-related degree
    Chartered status with a recognised professional body
    Strong knowledge of UK fire safety and building regulations
    Previous team leadership or business unit management experience
    A proven client network or the ability to generate new work
    Strong commercial and stakeholder-management skills
