How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Every year, we support around 125,000 people through nearly 200 services – and it’s all made possible by our 3,500 brilliant staff and volunteers.

Make a real difference in your community

Are you passionate about helping others live safer, healthier, more independent lives? Join our team at Waythrough and support people facing challenges around mental health, substance use, housing or domestic abuse. This is more than just a job – it’s a chance to build meaningful relationships and create lasting change.

    About the Role

At Waythrough, we are specialists in mental health, alcohol, drugs and related services, delivering high-quality, evidence-based support designed around the needs of the people we work with. Our vision is to break down the barriers that prevent people from accessing the support they need to live a life they value.

We're looking for a passionate and motivated Service Manager to lead two supported accommodation services in Whitehaven. This is an exciting opportunity to manage services that provide person-centred support for people experiencing mental health challenges, helping them build independence, recovery and brighter futures.

Whether you're already an experienced Service Manager or an aspiring leader ready to take the next step in your career, this is an excellent opportunity to develop your management skills within a supportive and values-driven organisation.

    What You'll Be Doing

    As Service Manager, you will:

    * Lead the day-to-day delivery of two supported accommodation services, ensuring safe, high-quality and recovery-focused support.

    * Inspire, motivate and develop a team of around eight colleagues, creating a positive, inclusive and high-performing culture.

    * Build and maintain strong relationships with commissioners, health professionals and partner organisations to ensure seamless support for the people we work with.

    * Monitor service performance, quality standards and contractual requirements, driving continuous improvement.

    * Oversee safeguarding, risk management, incidents and health and safety across both services.

    * Manage staffing, recruitment, supervision, training and workforce planning to ensure the services remain well supported.

    * Manage service budgets and resources effectively, ensuring value for money whilst maintaining excellent standards.

    * Promote co-production, ensuring the voices of the people we support help shape and improve the service.

    About You

We're looking for someone who enjoys leading people, solving problems and making a genuine difference.

    Essential

    * Experience working within mental health, social care, housing or a related support service.

    * A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle.

    * Strong leadership and people management skills, or experience supervising and developing others.

    * Excellent communication, organisation and decision-making skills.

    * A relevant Level 3 qualification (or willingness to work towards one).

    Desirable

    * Previous experience managing a team or service.

    * Experience working within supported accommodation or community-based mental health services.

    * Experience managing performance, quality standards or service improvement.

    * We welcome applications from people with transferable leadership experience who share our values and are ready to grow into the role.

    Working Pattern & Key Considerations

This is a full-time, permanent position working 37 hours per week, typically Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm.

You'll oversee two services in Whitehaven:

    - Roper Street – a 24-hour supported accommodation service.

    - Queen Street – a supported accommodation service operating between 8:30am and 8:30pm.

While your normal working pattern will be Monday to Friday, flexibility is required to support the services when needed, including occasional out-of-hours support.

This is a rewarding but fast-paced role where no two days are the same. If you're someone who enjoys leading teams, building relationships and making a lasting difference to people's lives, we'd love to hear from you.
