How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Solar PV Design Engineer - Glasgow - Salary circa 30-35K DOE

    Support the delivery of solar PV and battery storage installations across housing associations, councils, and registered social landlords (RSLs) in Scotland. Manage the complete design process from initial address allocation and grid connection applications through to post-installation design amendments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and project requirements.

    Key Responsibilities

    Prepare and manage G98/G99 grid connection applications with Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), tracking approvals and maintaining accurate records.
    Produce compliant solar PV and battery storage system designs using EasyPV or equivalent software, including panel layouts, string configuration, inverter selection, and battery placement.
    Review survey information, coordinate with surveyors and installation teams, and resolve design queries to maintain project schedules.
    Update designs to reflect as-built installations and manage design revisions where site conditions require changes.
    Generate Bills of Materials (BOMs), logistics documentation, and installation reports.
    Maintain accurate project documentation and provide progress updates to support programme delivery.
    Ensure designs comply with MCS standards, BS 7671, G98/G99 requirements, and client specifications.

    Key Skills

    Solar PV and battery storage system design.
    Knowledge of G98/G99 grid connection processes.
    Familiarity with MCS standards and BS 7671 Wiring Regulations.
    Experience with EasyPV or similar PV design software.
    Ability to interpret survey data and produce compliant, buildable designs.
    Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
    Effective communication with surveyors, installers, DNOs, housing associations, and other stakeholders.
    Experience with battery storage systems such as FoxESS, SolaX, EcoFlow PowerOcean, or similar is advantageous
