How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The successful candidate will be responsible for producing high-quality pipework designs to support a range of industrial engineering projects. Working closely with the client, project managers and multidisciplinary engineering teams, you will develop practical, compliant and cost-effective piping solutions from concept through to installation.

    This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a long-term client partnership, supporting the delivery of engineering projects within a fast-paced industrial environment.

    Key Responsibilities

    * Produce detailed pipework designs for industrial and process plant projects.

    * Develop piping layouts, isometric drawings, general arrangement (GA) drawings and fabrication details using 2D and 3D CAD software.

    * Design pipework systems in accordance with project specifications, relevant British Standards and industry best practice.

    * Carry out pipe routing studies to ensure safe, practical and efficient installation and maintenance access.

    * Prepare material specifications, bills of materials and technical documentation.

    * Work closely with mechanical, electrical, process and project engineers to coordinate multidisciplinary designs.

    * Attend design reviews, client meetings and site walkdowns to gather information and resolve technical queries.

    * Support construction and installation teams by providing technical advice throughout project delivery, and review existing plant layouts and develop modification designs where required.

    * Ensure designs consider constructability, operability, maintainability and health and safety requirements.

    * Respond promptly to client requests and support project delivery within agreed timescales.

    * Maintain accurate engineering records and ensure all documentation is controlled in accordance with company and client procedures.

    Candidate Details

    We are looking for someone with the following experience and qualifications:

    * HNC/HND or Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.

    * Previous experience in pipework or piping design within an industrial or process engineering environment.

    * Proficient in AutoCAD and/or 3D design software such as Autodesk, Inventor, SolidWorks, or similar.

    * Good understanding of piping layouts, fabrication and installation practices.

    * Ability to interpret P&IDs, engineering drawings and technical specifications.

    * Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively alongside clients and multidisciplinary teams.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    Desirable

    * Experience working within the chemical, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, utilities, energy or manufacturing sectors.

    * Knowledge of pressure systems and relevant design standards.

    * Familiarity with piping codes.

    * Experience conducting site surveys and laser scan reviews.

    * Understanding of pipe stress considerations and support design.

    * Experience working within a client-facing or resident engineering role.

    Working Hours

    * Full time – 37.5 hours per week, with overtime available, Mon-Thrs (08:00-16:30) & Fri (08:00-13:30)
