How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

Job Title: Experienced SEND Teaching Assistant
    Location: Lewisham, London
    Pay Range: £95 – £120 per day
    Contract Type: Full-time

ANZUK Education is working with a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Lewisham seeking an experienced SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team from an immediate start. This full-time position offers the opportunity to support pupils with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and non-verbal communication needs, helping them access learning and achieve their full potential within a supportive and nurturing school environment.

The school has a strong commitment to inclusive education and is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant who can confidently support pupils with complex communication and learning needs. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to provide tailored support that enables every child to thrive both academically and socially.

This SEND Teaching Assistant role in Lewisham would suit experienced Teaching Assistants or Learning Support Assistants who have previously worked within a SEND setting and are confident supporting children on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with ASD and non-verbal communication needs. The school is looking for someone who can hit the ground running and make a positive impact from day one.

Key Responsibilities of SEND Teaching Assistant:

Provide dedicated 1:1 and small group support for pupils with SEND, including those with ASD and non-verbal communication needs.

Support pupils using appropriate communication strategies, including visual supports, PECS, Makaton or other communication methods where appropriate.

Implement strategies outlined in EHCPs and individual support plans.

Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to deliver personalised learning activities.

Promote pupils' communication, independence, emotional wellbeing and engagement in learning.

Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, behaviour and inclusion.

    The Ideal Candidate Will:

Have proven experience working within a SEND setting or supporting children with additional needs in a primary school (essential).

Have experience supporting non-verbal children and/or pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

Be confident delivering 1:1 support and adapting learning to meet individual needs.

Demonstrate a strong understanding of SEND strategies and inclusive practice.

Be patient, resilient, proactive and able to build positive relationships with pupils.

Maintain high expectations for pupil progress, behaviour and wellbeing.

Show a clear commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate confidently with staff and families.

    What The School Offers:

A supportive and experienced SEND team.

A well-resourced and inclusive learning environment.

Opportunities for ongoing SEND training and professional development.

A collaborative staff culture where every member of the team is valued.

A welcoming and inclusive school community.

Applications are being reviewed on a rolling basis, so we encourage early submission to avoid missing out. Apply now to be considered.

If you bring relevant experience and a passion for supporting children with additional needs, we encourage you to apply — even if you don't meet every listed requirement.
