How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your New Company

    A leading UKinfrastructure services provider is seeking an experienced Highways Supervisorto support a growing portfolio of highways maintenance and infrastructureprojects across Glasgow and the South West of Scotland. Working across multipleoperational sites, you will play a key role in ensuring works are deliveredsafely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
    This is an excellentopportunity to join a well-established delivery team working on a variety ofhighways, maintenance and civil engineering schemes within live operationalenvironments.

    Your New Role

    As HighwaysSupervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day site operationsacross a number of active projects, travelling between locations to providesupervisory support, ensure safe working practices and assist site managementteams in delivering works efficiently and to programme.

    Key Responsibilities

    Supervising highways maintenance and civil engineering activities across multiple sites.
    Providing leadership and guidance to operatives, gangs and subcontractors.
    Ensuring works are carried out in accordance with approved RAMS, permits and company procedures.
    Leading daily briefings, toolbox talks and safety discussions.
    Monitoring productivity, quality standards and programme performance.
    Conducting regular site inspections, audits and safety observations.
    Supporting Site Managers and operational teams with planning and resource allocation.
    Coordinating labour, plant, materials and subcontractors to maximise efficiency.
    Liaising with clients, stakeholders and traffic management teams where required.
    Maintaining accurate site records, reports and health & safety documentation.
    Identifying and resolving on-site issues while maintaining programme delivery.
    Promoting a positive health, safety and environmental culture at all times.
    What You'll Need to Succeed

    Previous experience as a Highways Supervisor, General Foreman, Works Supervisor or similar position.
    Strong background delivering highways maintenance, infrastructure or civil engineering works.
    Experience working within live traffic-managed environments.
    Proven ability to supervise direct labour, subcontractors and multidisciplinary teams.
    Excellent communication and leadership skills.
    Strong understanding of health, safety and environmental legislation.
    Ability to work independently across multiple locations.
    Full UK Driving Licence and willingness to travel throughout the region.
    Essential Qualifications

    SSSTS or SMSTS
    CSCS Supervisor Card (or equivalent)
    First Aid at Work
    Full UK Driving Licence
    Desirable Qualifications

    NRSWA Supervisor
    Temporary Works Supervisor
    NHSS Sector Scheme experience
    Traffic Management qualifications
    Experience working on term maintenance or highways frameworks
