How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

RECRUITMENT IS ON HOLIDAY UNTIL 31/07/2026 - DO NOT EXPECT A REPLY UNTIL THEN
We have an exceptional opportunity for an experienced (and fully supernumerary) Deputy Manager to join our management team at Kirk Lane Nursing Home, our 60-bed home in Livingston, just 14 miles west of Edinburgh. This role has arisen due to the promotion of our current long-serving Deputy Manager.
Kirk Lane offers the very best in luxurious living for our residents, who enjoy a high standard of care in a friendly community setting. Kirk Lane is well known and established in the local area and is truly integrated into the community, enjoying a reputation for compassion, warmth, and kindness. These qualities are the top priorities for our highly skilled team. The home is strong and stable, supported by an excellent staff group that has achieved positive and consistent Care Inspectorate grades for many years with current grades of 6 – Excellent. Kirk Lane is an award winning home having won the accolade of Care Home of the Year – Scotland in 2024, and in 2026 is recognised as a Top 20 home in Scotland (carehome).
As Deputy Manager within Randolph Hill Nursing Homes Group, you will support the Manager with managing the budget, allowing local decisions to be made about the way the home is managed. You will benefit from the support of the Home Manager and from peer support offered by fellow managers, who have extensive experience and are well placed to provide ongoing advice and guidance. You will also be supported by a senior management team with a breadth of clinical knowledge and experience. All members of our senior team are on hand to advise and foster a culture of continuous improvement. The depth and strength within our management team has resulted in our homes consistently attaining positive grades with the Care Inspectorate.
Our company is small enough to make decisions which fit local circumstances and needs, while avoiding unnecessary bureaucracy, yet large enough to provide extensive training and achieve high standards of care and professionalism. We have a proven track record of internal career progression, a close-knit fabric of support, and a stability that serves us well in a changing world.
    The Role
As Deputy Manager at Kirk Lane, you'll support the Home Manager to lead our 60-bed home in Livingston Village, creating a warm, safe, and happy environment where residents thrive. You'll set the standard for excellence, oversee daily operations, and inspire your team to deliver the very best in person-centred care.
    Key Responsibilities:
    * Maintain a safe, healthy, and homely setting where residents feel valued and happy.
    * Set and uphold high standards in all areas, consistently projecting a professional and compassionate approach.
    * Deputise for the Manager and assist in the complete running of the home.
    * Employ, train and develop staff at all levels, monitor progress, and recruit with support from the Recruitment Manager.
    * Monitor resident and nursing plans and assist nurses in care planning if required
    * Achieving and maintaining highest possible occupancy
    * Maintaining strong working relationships internally and externally
To support the Home Manager with:
    * Managing the home efficiently and effectively, ensuring financial sustainability within company budgets.
    * Involving residents in shaping improvements and championing truly person-centred care. As our residents say: "We would like someone who is kind, caring and helpful, with the right attitude and a real desire for the role."
    * Building strong relationships with the local community and overseeing all aspects of operational management.
    * Leading, developing, and motivating a team of nurses, carers, and support staff, fostering respect and a positive team culture.
    About You:
    * Registered Nurse (with current NMC PIN), or hold SVQ Level 4 in Social Services and Healthcare (or equivalent), and SVQ 4 in Leadership and Management.
    * Extensive deputy management experience within a care home environment.
    * We will also consider someone who has worked at Charge Nurse or Unit Manager level and is now looking for a step up.
    * Clear and confident communicator with excellent listening skills.
    * Experience working with older people, and a sound understanding of dementia.
    * Ability to maintain a positive, solutions-focused attitude at all times.
    * Knowledge of employment law, the private sector, and care home regulations is desirable.
    What we Offer:
    * Highly competitive salary of £65,895, plus a £1,500 joining bonus and an excellent company bonus scheme recognising and rewarding outstanding performance.
    * Fully supernumerary role with a genuine ethos of work/life balance.
    * Strong support from a skilled Senior Team and Head Office.
    * 33 days' holiday, increasing with service, and a competitive contributory pension scheme.
    * Private medical healthcare for yourself, your spouse, and children in full-time education up to age 21.
    * Enhanced Sick Pay, full pay for 3 months, half pay for a further 3 months.
    * Be part of an organisation with an excellent reputation for delivering quality care, with a high level of autonomy to run your home and full clinical, operational, and administrative support.
    * Payment of annual professional registration fees (NMC or SSSC).
    Is This Your Next Opportunity?
This role is ideal for an experienced Deputy Manager who:
    * Wants greater autonomy to make meaningful decisions and support the people in their care.
    * Is passionate about achieving high standards and making a real difference to residents' lives.
    * Values being part of a supportive management network and a business with a clear purpose and vision.
