How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    Carmichael UK is recruiting for an experienced Section Engineer to join a major HS2 infrastructure scheme in Buckinghamshire. This is an excellent opportunity to play a key role in delivering complex structures and highways works on one of the UK's flagship civil engineering projects.

    The Role

    As Section Engineer, you will be responsible for managing engineering activities across a range of structures and highways packages, ensuring works are delivered safely, efficiently, and to the highest quality standards.

    Key Responsibilities

    Managing site engineering activities for structures and highways works

    Overseeing subcontractors and ensuring programme targets are achieved

    Producing and reviewing RAMS, ITPs and Work Package Plans

    Ensuring compliance with project specifications and quality standards

    Managing setting out activities and as-built records

    Coordinating temporary works and construction methodologies

    Driving health, safety and environmental best practice across your section

    Supporting the delivery team with planning, commercial and technical requirements

    Requirements

    Proven experience as a Section Engineer on major civil engineering or infrastructure projects

    Strong background in structures (bridges, retaining walls, reinforced concrete works, culverts, etc.)

    Experience delivering highways construction works

    Excellent knowledge of QA processes, ITPs and engineering documentation

    Ability to manage and mentor site engineering teams

    Degree or HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline

    CSCS Card (essential)

    SMSTS or SSSTS desirable

    £440.00 - £460.00 per day
