How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    BBS Recruitment is an independent recruitment agency for transport and logistics sector, supplying to a variety of clients across UK.

    We are currently recruiting an Electrical Engineer for our client based in Barnet.

    The Electrical Engineer will provide technical expertise, design, maintenance oversight, compliance support and oversee electrical works to electrical systems across the organisation’s property portfolio.

    Responsibilities for Electrical Engineer:

    * Provide electrical engineering advice, design, and technical support for the local authority's managed estate.

    * Produce electrical designs, feasibility studies, condition surveys, specifications, schedules of work, and defect diagnosis reports.

    * Prepare and manage CAD drawings for electrical engineering projects.

    * Ensure compliance with electrical regulations, statutory requirements, and industry best practice.

    * Administer contracts, conduct site inspections, monitor project progress, and prepare technical reports.

    * Review technical documentation, specifications, and contractor submissions to ensure quality and compliance.

    * Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver projects on time and within budget.

    * Monitor contract performance, KPIs, expenditure, and value for money across engineering projects.

    * Support the design and implementation of energy-efficient, low-carbon electrical systems, including LED lighting, smart grids, and energy storage solutions.

    * Manage contractor performance, chair project meetings, and oversee the resolution of technical and contractual issues.

    * Build and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, including council departments, elected members, partners, and external organisations.

    * Contribute to the planning, prioritisation, and delivery of mechanical and electrical works across the managed estate.

    * Lead multidisciplinary project teams, providing technical guidance and ensuring successful project delivery.

    * Keep up to date with developments in electrical engineering, construction, and public sector regulations.

    Requirements for Electrical Engineer:

    * Degree in Electrical Engineering (or closely related discipline) or equivalent professional experience

    * Training in Building Services Engineering, energy, or sustainability or equivalent professional experience

    * Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards (e.g., via IMechE, IET, CIBSE)

    * The candidate must have a minimum of 5 years Electrical Engineering experience in the UK.

    * Experience managing contractors and administering construction contracts

    * Working within public sector procurement and governance

    * Knowledge and experience of Mechanical Engineering and mechanical systems

    * Understanding and experience with the Construction (Design) Management 2015 and Building Safety Act 2022 legislation

    * Understanding and grasp of the RIBA Plan of Works for projects or equivalent from CIBSE or other recognised professional bodies
