How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

As Head of Grid & Networks, you will lead Scottish Renewables' work across transmission and distribution networks, grid connections, network charging and wider electricity system infrastructure. This is a unique opportunity to influence some of the most significant regulatory and policy developments currently affecting the renewable energy industry.

    The Opportunity

    You will:

Lead Scottish Renewables' policy activity relating to electricity networks and grid infrastructure.
Influence connections reform, network charging and price control discussions.
Develop evidence-based policy positions and consultation responses.
Build strong relationships with Ofgem, NESO, network companies and policymakers.
Support members navigating complex network and connection challenges.
Lead and develop policy team colleagues while acting as a trusted strategic partner to the wider leadership team.
Translate complex technical and regulatory issues into clear and compelling policy positions.About You

    You'll bring:

A strong understanding of electricity networks and how they support renewable deployment.
Experience of grid connections, network regulation or energy systems policy.
The ability to analyse complex technical issues and communicate them with clarity.
Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship-building capabilities.
    Commercial awareness and sound judgement.
The confidence to operate autonomously in a fast-moving policy environment. This role would particularly suit someone who enjoys translating technical complexity into practical solutions and wants to make a meaningful contribution to Scotland's energy future.

You will join a supportive, inclusive and collaborative team, working on a hybrid basis (max 2 days from home) from the Glasgow office. Occasional overnight stays and weekend travel/event attendance will be required.
