How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    1:1 Teaching Assistant - Romford - Education and Training - September 2026

    Are you a caring, patient and dedicated 1:1 Teaching Assistant looking to make a genuine difference in a child's educational journey? Do you have a passion for education and training and enjoy providing personalised support to help children overcome barriers to learning?

    Our welcoming three-form entry primary school in the heart of Romford is seeking an enthusiastic 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team from September 2026. This rewarding role will involve working closely with one pupil on a one-to-one basis, providing tailored academic, emotional and behavioural support throughout the school day.

    Location: Romford
    Start Date: September 2026
    Pay: £95 - £100 per day (depending on experience)

    About the Role

    As a 1:1 Teaching Assistant, you will build a positive and trusting relationship with an individual pupil, helping them access the curriculum and develop both academically and socially. You will work in partnership with the class teacher, SENDCo and external professionals to ensure the child receives the support they need to succeed.

    The pupil may have additional needs including:

    Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
    Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
    Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN)
    Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs
    Dyslexia or Dyspraxia
    Behavioural or emotional needsPrevious experience supporting children with additional needs is desirable but not essential. A calm, compassionate and resilient approach is key.

    Responsibilities

    Provide dedicated one-to-one support throughout the school day.
    Adapt learning activities to meet the individual needs of the pupil.
    Encourage independence, confidence and engagement in lessons.
    Support the child with their academic, social and emotional development.
    Implement strategies outlined in the child's Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP), where applicable.
    Work closely with the class teacher and SENDCo to monitor progress and adapt support.
    Record observations and provide feedback on the child's achievements and next steps.
    Promote positive behaviour using agreed behaviour management strategies.
    Support the pupil during playtimes, lunchtime, educational visits and other school activities.
    Build positive relationships with parents, carers and external professionals.
    Provide personal care where required, including toileting or changing, while maintaining the child's dignity and encouraging independence.
    Ensure the safety, wellbeing and safeguarding of the pupil at all times.

    The Ideal Candidate

    Experience working with children in a school or childcare setting is desirable.
    Experience supporting children with SEND is advantageous.
    A patient, caring and nurturing personality.
    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    A genuine passion for education and training.
    The ability to remain calm, flexible and positive in challenging situations.
    A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
