How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    An Assistant Building Surveyor is needed to join a long-established multi-disciplinary construction consultancy in London, supporting a varied workload across housing, education, commercial, care and healthcare projects.

    The successful Assistant Building Surveyor will join an established Building Surveying team with strong public and private sector frameworks, APC support and exposure to both traditional surveying and retrofit-led instructions.

    The Assistant Building Surveyor Role

    The Assistant Building Surveyor will work closely with senior surveyors and project teams, supporting the delivery of building surveying and project instructions across a broad client base.

    The role will offer hands-on experience across surveys, reports, specifications, contract administration and sustainability-led work, while developing core Building Surveying skills within a collaborative consultancy environment.

    Duties of the Assistant Building Surveyor to include:

    Assist with housing, education, commercial, care and healthcare projects
    * Undertake building and condition surveys
    * Support retrofit, energy efficiency and sustainability-led instructions
    * Assist with specifications, reports and technical documentation
    * Support contract administration and project delivery
    * Work alongside multi-disciplinary teams across the consultancy
    * Develop technical knowledge while progressing towards APCThe Person?

    The successful Assistant Building Surveyor will be motivated, career-focused and keen to develop within a construction consultancy environment.

    The Assistant Building Surveyor will ideally have:

    A degree in Building Surveying or a related construction/property discipline
    * 1-2 years' post-graduate experience
    * Commitment to professional development and APC
    * Experience supporting surveying or project instructions in the UK market
    * The ability to work effectively within multi-disciplinary teams
    * A construction-related backgroundApplications from non-construction-related surveying disciplines will not be considered.
