How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The role

    Orbit are recruiting for a Community Hub Manager to join our team in working across all of our Orbit Sites to work within the heart of our communities, managing the day to day operations and future developments of our Community Hubs.

    In this role the Community Hub Manager will To improve social inclusion by transforming local buildings and green spaces into community venues to create a network of “Better Days” Hubs for customers to meet and engage with each other and with services.

    This role can be based out of any of our Orbit sites - Coventry, Stratford upon Avon, Norwich, Erith, Kent or Hastings, and will involve travel to all sites (driving license and access to own vehicle, essential).

    This role is part of our Customer directorate where you'll help us to lead the way in keeping our promise to more than 100,000 customers.

    What you'll achieve

    Responsible for developing and managing Orbit’s portfolio of Community Hubs.
    Responsible for ensuring our Community Hubs are well managed, accessible and offer a range of support services in line with community need.
    Responsible for developing plans to enable the Hubs to become financially sustainable.
    Responsibility for the management of budgets across the portfolio of Community Hubs.
    Line manage a team of Community Hub Officers.
    Work with the Community Investment Local Teams to enable our customers to design and shape services and activity delivered from the Hubs, brokering partnerships with external providers, and / or commissioning activity to help deliver services that meet the changing needs of our communities.
    Work with communications teams to ensure the Hubs are promoted within local communities. What you'll bring

    Essential skills

    Demonstrable experience in working with local communities to create community venues and facilities.
    Experience of service development within a community or voluntary sector setting.
    Experience of leading a team and working across organisations to develop coherent delivery plans.
    Ability to build effective networks and partnerships that lead to revenue generation/ funding and increased outcomes for customers.
    Experience of developing and securing external funding with partners as well as managing delivery.
    Excellent project and contract management skills.
    Knowledge and understanding of relevant government strategy, policies and trends and their implications for the service and our customers.Why Orbit?
