How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    The role

    Orbit are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit an Energy Advisor to join our Sustainability team on a 18-month fixed term contract.

    The Energy Advisor will collaborate closely with Orbit customers, offering specialised energy advice aimed at assisting vulnerable individuals at risk of fuel poverty. Your guidance will be customized to each customer's unique situation, enhancing their experience, and contributing directly to our 2030 goal of 'making a positive difference to our customers and society.'

    Additionally, you will assist the Sustainability team in monitoring our energy data and performing energy audits in communal areas to identify potential energy-saving opportunities. This effort will help lower communal energy charges for our customers and directly support their transition to net-zero.

    This role can be fulfilled from any Orbit location - Coventry, Stratford upon Avon, Norwich, Erith, Kent, Hastings, and will involve travel.

    What you'll achieve

    Your key responsibilities will be to:

    Provide a tailored Energy Advice and casework service for vulnerable Orbit customers that helps to alleviate fuel poverty and improve wellbeing. This will include a mix of telephone advice and home visits for complex cases.
    Provide training to Orbit’s frontline colleagues to help them support customers with energy queries. This will include basic energy awareness, causes of Damp, Mould and Condensation and energy saving advice.
    Work with our customer facing internal teams, such as Thriving Communities and our Communications teams to provide up-to-date and accurate energy advice to customers.
    Support on the external certification process in accordance with ISO 14001: 2015.
    Support our Thriving Communities team with development and distribution of Winter Warmth packs.What you'll bring

    Essential skills

    A level 3 Energy Awareness qualification or similar.
    A driving licence and access to a vehicle to travel to remote locations around the UK on a weekly basis
    A passion for saving energy and environmental issues and keeping up to date with these, especially in connection to the built environment and social housing.
    Able to build positive relationships with customers, many of whom are vulnerable, to provide energy advice and enhance the customer experience.
    Ability to influence others, and work both as part of a team and as a line manager.Why Orbit?
