How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Your new company
    Hays Education is working in partnership with a highly regarded independent school in Lewisham to recruit a creative and enthusiastic Teacher of Art and Design Technology (DT) for a position starting in September.

    This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled and passionate teacher to join a successful independent school that places a strong emphasis on creativity, innovation, and academic excellence. The successful candidate will teach both Art and Design Technology, encouraging students to develop their practical skills, creativity, and confidence across a range of disciplines.

    Your new role
    The successful candidate will teach Art and Design Technology across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the potential for Key Stage 5 teaching depending on experience and specialism.You will be responsible for planning and delivering engaging lessons that inspire students to think creatively, solve problems independently, and develop a strong understanding of design processes and artistic techniques.

    Working within well-resourced departments, you will help students produce high-quality work whilst fostering a genuine appreciation for creativity and design.

    What you'll need to succeed

    Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
    Experience teaching Art and Design Technology within a UK secondary school
    Strong subject knowledge across both curriculum areas
    The ability to deliver engaging, practical, and differentiated lessons
    High expectations of student achievement and behaviour
    Excellent communication and organisational skills
    A commitment to contributing to the wider life of the school
