How our sorting works

The order in which job vacancies are displayed is determined by a composite score based on the following factors:

  • Keyword Relevance: How well your search terms match the vacancy details. We prioritize matches found in the job title, followed by job requirements, location names, and educational levels. Matches within general employer information or the organization's name carry a lower weight.
  • Commercial Prioritization (Premium Jobs): Vacancies paid for by employers ('Premium' or 'Sponsored') receive a ranking boost and will appear higher in the search results.
  • Recency (Date Relevance): Newer vacancies are prioritized. The relevance score of a vacancy is reduced by half once the posting is older than 30 days.
  • Proximity (Distance Relevance): Vacancies located closer to your search location are ranked higher. For vacancies located more than 30 km from the search center, the relevance score is halved.
The final ranking is established by multiplying all these individual factors to calculate the total relevance score.

    Job description

    I am recruiting on behalf of my client, an established technology business that delivers specialist software and communication solutions to customers across the UK.

    They now have an immediate requirement for a Systems Support Engineer to join their technical team based in Brentford. This is a hybrid role, initially office based while you complete your training before moving to a hybrid pattern of two days in the office and three days working from home.

    Working as part of a small, supportive team, you will maintain and support business critical software applications and communication systems, ensuring customers receive a high level of technical support and service.

    This is an excellent opportunity for someone with an IT, networking or telecommunications background who enjoys fault finding, solving technical problems and working with innovative technologies.

    Systems Support Engineer Responsibilities:

    * Maintain, support and monitor business critical software applications and communication systems.

    * Provide technical support to customers and internal teams.

    * Investigate, diagnose and resolve technical faults.

    * Manage and prioritise support requests using the company's helpdesk system.

    * Carry out routine system health checks and preventative maintenance.

    * Assist with the installation, configuration and commissioning of new systems.

    * Work closely with other technical teams to resolve customer issues.

    * Support demonstrations of new products and solutions when required.

    * Participate in an on call rota and provide out of hours support when required.

    Systems Support Engineer Requirements:

    * Experience within IT, Networking or Telecommunications support.

    * Understanding of TCP/IP networking.

    * Knowledge of Windows and Linux operating systems.

    * Ability to investigate faults and troubleshoot technical issues.

    * Excellent customer service and communication skills.

    * Ability to learn new technologies quickly.

    * Full UK driving licence.

    Systems Support Engineer Benefits:

    * Negotiable salary.

    * Car Allowance.

    * On call allowance, overtime paid for call outs.

    * Hybrid working following successful completion of training.

    * Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

    * Company pension.

    * Mobile phone and laptop.

    * Life assurance, employee assistance programme, voluntary salary sacrifice benefits including critical illness and dental cover.

    * Long term career development within a growing specialist business.

    NOTE: This role would suit candidates from an IT Support, Systems Support, Network Support, Infrastructure Support or Telecommunications background. Applications are welcomed from both civilian candidates and ex military personnel, including Royal Signals, RAF ICT, Royal Navy CIS and others with experience supporting IT, networking or communication systems
