Salary is c£40-46,000 per annum plus 25 days' holiday and bank holidays, pension, healthcare.
Responsibilities for the Manufacturing Engineer:
This dual-focused role supports Project Managers in delivering engineered contracts safely, on time, and within budget while translating design specifications into actionable manufacturing plans. You will act as a key interface between design, purchasing, quality assurance, and the workshop floor to ensure seamless project execution.
Key Responsibilities

Project Support & Delivery: Assist in managing project scope, budgets, schedules, and quality performance, including tracking Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and capturing Lessons learned.

Manufacturing Integration: Interpret complex engineering drawings to generate Bills of Materials (BOMs) within MES/MCS systems and establish optimal manufacturing routings.

Change & Risk Management: Monitor project variances, support change control processes, and proactively identify risks to implement mitigation plans.

Stakeholder Liaison: Act as a professional interface for clients, subcontractors, Quantity Surveyors, and Quality Engineers to ensure alignment on project goals.

Technical Oversight: Provide technical support to internal production teams and subcontractors, resolving engineering issues as they arise.

Reporting & Progress Tracking: Attend progress meetings, expedite internal/subcontracted deliverables, and produce accurate updates for weekly progress reports.
Person Specification for the Manufacturing Engineer
Qualifications
*
Essential: HNC/HND or City & Guilds in Mechanical Engineering, Fabrication, or Welding.
*
Essential: Membership in an applicable professional institute.
*
Desirable: IOSH Health & Safety Certificate.
Experience & Technical Knowledge
*
Essential: Substantial experience in a manufacturing environment with a strong background in fabrication, welding processes (MMA, TIG, MIG/MAG), materials (stainless/carbon steel, aluminium), and machining techniques.
*
Essential: Ability to interpret varied engineering drawings, specifications, quality plans, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
*
Essential: Experience with AutoCAD (or other drawing packages), Microsoft Office, and cost analysis/estimating.
*
Desirable: Understanding of project planning principles (including P6 programming interpretation), risk management, and commercial contracts (such as NEC).
*
Desirable: Experience managing small teams or lower-risk projects.
